Resources for local club

I'm starting a chess club at work and was wondering what the best resources are for getting it up and running. We have a $600 annual budget to spend and I will need equipment and teaching materials to get it off the ground. To start there are six people in the club, including myself, but I anticipate that others will jump in when they see how much fun we're having. wink.png

We're planning initially to meet bimonthly. My plan was to dedicate the first half of the class to some basic instruction and the second half to playing. I've never coached chess at all but I understand the game well enough to teach the fundamentals to beginners.

My questions are 1) how to best spend the money and 2) what teaching resources are available to use. All equipment is the property of my company and must be made available to everyone in the company, so software licenses are a problematic. Books might be OK as people could check them out and return them. I have a premium account here to use for instruction as well.

Any advice is appreciated, especially coming from someone who has started a similar club from the ground up.

Assuming your chess club won't have rated tournaments, you won't need much. Maybe get 10 boards and pieces, and either a projector or a flat vertical teaching board to instruct with. If you had a projector you could teach with the things you have access to as a diamond member, like chess puzzles, lessons etc. $600 is more then enough, you could afford to get some clocks or books with the extra money.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking that just using my chess.com account is the best tool available for teaching lessons.
