2d to 3d - good play to poor play

I need some advice. When I study and play on the 2d board, I play better than when I'm in front of a 3d board and set. With 2d, I see the whole board, and I'm more confident in my moves. With 3d, I tend to become short-sighted. I don't see the whole board. I hang pieces. I miss more tactics. I start strong but fade as I play even with the virtual 3d board here on chess.com. (Currently, I only play bots until I think I'm worthy to play people.) Is this common for a beginner/intermediate player? What can I do to correct this problem? I feel like such a dummy!

My sister was solving some puzzles on a 3d board and noticed she did much better if she looked down at the board. The digital board is training you to look down at the board I think. Hope this helps

I mean instead of sitting down and looking across the board she stood up and looked down.

Thanks! I'll try that in the real world. But I can't figure out why it happens on the 3d setup here on chess.com. I feel like I have a hang-up or something.
