if you accidentally move a piece to the wrong location... my finger touched square next to my intended quare... honest mistake... can you take back a move?

During a live game? No. You could set the settings to confirm every move before you commit, that way you prevent this situation. Downside is that it could be annoying or not practical in faster time controls like blitz or bullet.
