I was thinking just the other day about the world championship.  It would be great to get a feed through this site to watch the games.  Also, a review of each game with annotations.  I would bet you have already thought of this, but it is just what I was thinking.

I would like to see more instruction.  The majority of people are here to learn and improve.  You could do a style of the month and have someone take us through the "book" on a particular type of play.  I love learning the names of moves and why they are in that order.

Does chess.com have its own reporter?  Getting exclusive interviews with players could be very cool.

I hope to see more vote chess games against GMs.

I think you guys are GREAT, and doing a GREAT job.  I love chess, and I love this site.  I am constantly trying to get my friends to get into chess by joining this site so I can play them all the time.  I got one, more to come.

Hope this is helpful.  Thank You for all you do!

I really think that Loomis and Likeforests are on to something - you should probably do both...

intra chess site tournaments ;) Host teams of ICC players here or yahoochess (ugh) here and organize a tournament. Maybe even have some of our players go there. Maybe some of their member's will change their minds and come over to our side >=)

maybe you could add live chat? I know we already have live chess chat but add live chat to groups, teams, or any place necesary.

Or maybe you could add a raffle of some kind of active players and the winner could maybe get a free premium membership for a month?

And also maybe you could make a feature so that we can move around the boxes, such as "My Friends Online", "My Tracked Activity", and "My Photos", so that the boxes can be in different order on My Home only.

Well if you really want some buzz, close the site for a day and watch the crime rate skyrocket around the world ;).

That said, a popup on every page of a real loud annoying bee flying around would help add buzz too.

Last but not least,

build some sort of site championship... something that would get ALL active members (if possible) to play in a tournament against eachother...

I am expirencing the same problem as Rael, but on a grand scale, infact this is the most I have said today

Yes,that would work. Then we could nominate people to help fix up the site.

Here are a few ideas of mine:

Titled players v.s. Chess.com(vote chess)

Host a chess.com section tournament and reward prizes to the top 25 each section(T-shirts do fine.)

finally, submit a chess video of the day with a person explaining one of there games.Pick your favorite,Erik.

To add buzz, add something other than just chess related stuff. Not sure what though. A live java script of streetfighter 2 (the chess game of the beat 'em up genre) would be awesome.

yesterday i bought a chess book called" chess tactics for champions" by susan Polgar which I like Very much. While i was flipping throughbooks, i saw that sometimes the author would tell the reader which were his favorites sites to play online chess. Also, I just looked it up and chess.com is on the second page when you search"online chess" on google. Also many people rather play on other servers and webstes like ICC and playchess.com, redhotpawn.com, etc. beacause they have more titled and higher ranked players. Thats why some people I know didnt want to join chess.com and rather play somewhere else. What if you payed some GMs to come and play(or seduce them with such a fancy website for free:-P) on chess.com, that will get a LOT more players.

Organize a league.

One possibility is an intercollegiate league. Every college is invited to field a team. Chess.com sets the schedule, keeps track of the standings, etc. I have been in and around a number of colleges and what's generally keeping schools from playing each other is 1) lack of travel ability and 2) lack of organization. Chess.com can solve both these problems while getting some talented young members.

also, you could check out some other websites and steal some of their ideas!

Literary works contest. A competition between chess lovers that are also members of text-based community like a chess.com. A competion near the chess where chess rating means nothing ;).  An additional dimmension for chess.com space.

It could be essay or short fun fiction or even true story. And there should be a task - to write a text on given theme. And a theme could be connected with chess (I expect many different possible themes).

There should be a vote system to have two sets of winners: chosen by community and by chess.com stuff. The main criterion for evaluation - value of fun, humour. Second - conformity with theme. Third - quality in literary sense.

Comment tread for each work as usual for furum topic is a part of the event, of course.

And there should be a prize. It could be an original chess board (with chess-men) with Chess.com logo or chess clocks - something that has a value and could be a kind of trophy - souvenir for memory and for honor between friend, parents and children ;).

It should be in English, of course. I will not participate in such contest since my english is not fluent but it will be interesting for me to read, to comment and to evaluate works.

I have an experience in participation in such events - three contests organized by russian newspaper Digital Times (times.lv) in Latvia - two literary and one graphical. I can tell that while the number of participants depended mainly on given theme/task (in case of valuable prize) the number of fandom always were big. While the most of contests organized by this newspaper were the banal quizs about sponsor or his products the creative contests were very interesting for participants as well as for fans.

Maybe, if possible, add a "Incoming Challenge" or "Outgoing challenge status on LIVE chess. If a player has a challenge, why should they get another?(I've had 5 at once before) If they have given a challenge, would they accept one? What if they accidentally click "Accept" and their challenge is accepted?

In live chess two players could decide what position they want to start with, ATTRACTS people in HUGE numbers! Money mouth

Make a vote chess game that features chess.com vs a chess computer

Avatar of jaller435718

The tournament point could be exchanged for little chess prizes, a day of chess mentor, a silver memberships, a tee-shirt, etc.

I also like Loomis' intercollegiate league idea. It would be fun to have a "chess season" and watch Florida State square off againt Stanford at chess. Ideally at tournament time controls, and with a TD at each site during the games to ensure fair play.  :)

Regnskog had a nice idea: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/had-an-idea-for-the-analysis-forum

Also, I think OKbridge did very well by encouriging interaction between community members at bridge events. This could be done rather small scale such as provining pis with logo an the text "Hi, I am <insert you UserID> and play at www.chess.com"
