Batgirl; You said the forums have oscillated up & down through the passage of time. It just seem that around the 1st of the year, with the influx of new people, it was the wild, wild, west there briefly.

The first of what year?

913Glorax12

The 1st year of the 1st month on the 1st day of chess.com?

batgirl

I don't think chess.com was officially opened the first day of its first month, which I believe was May 2007.

Well, long term is what I was talking about, as things tend to balance out in the long view. As you said, whether I agree with that or not, it was the wild west briefly.... wouldn't that fit the definition of oscillating (though probably vaccilating or fluctuating might have been slightly more accurate terms to describe what I meant)?

I don't drink coffee. I used to, excessively, but had to give it up.

Truly a masterpiece of piece play and spaghetti sauce.

There really should be a Chessdotcom Opening.  The Bongcloud certainly seems appropriate with or without sauce.

I have mentioned this before, and I know others have. Threads should be allowed to meander like a conversation. If it runs too far afield, it could be that your topic is not tht interesting to people.

If you're in a group and initiate a conversation that drifts from your original topic, would you say "stop trolling and stick to the original topic or you'll be banned!" Also remember that if you are OP you can shut down your thread by requesting the mods.

To MM; the first ammendment does not guarantee the freedom to say anything you like in any venue. chess.com is a business and has the right to edit or eliminate content that doesn't represent their business properly.

Well I'm glad we got THAT straitened out. I thought you were trying to drag me into a, "Who's on 1st" routine.  Celebrate what??, When??, That's what I'm asking you!      P.S.  Can I yell FIRE, in a crowded forum??

I agree. I always look for a good conversation to read, or be a part of, in the forums:)

Should peopele who create a forum be able to dictate who can or can't post (as it stands now)?

I've done some tournament chess threads where I didn't have to block anybody because all the participants commenting in the threads were just focused on chess. It seemed like everyone in the forums were self-moderating. It is a very cool experience.

But one time someone started going a little cuckoo, so he had to be blocked. I'm glad that option was available to me so that others participating in the thread could enjoy it more:)

Should peopele learn to spell people?
