I wouldn’t have any clue, lmk when you figure it out and tell me how you did it
Any good tips in breaking the 1200 blitz rating barrier?

Try to not be lost in the opening. Play few openings and take your time if the opponent makes a very agressive and different move. After that it involves a lot of other things, such as mid game strategy, tatics, endgame knowledge, etc, but if you get through the opening you are already half way there when it comes to blitz games. Oh, and if the time is running out, pre move and just play for droping you opponent's time.

Wow what a journey it has been for me so far! The last few months was very hectic for me lol, firstly I had to deal with my graduation of senior school exams (IGCSE exams), then I had to deal with moving cities and settling into a new city, new environment, new school, which was hard on me (as would have been for everyone). All of this seriously restricted my time on Chess, and I also had to pause lessons with my GM coach... However saying that for the past few months I haven't been playing any Chess would be lying, but for some reason I spent the majority of my chess time playing on Lichess (I guess it would be because of the inflated ratings over there lol). Thus I suppose it took me longer than anticipated to hit 2000+ Blitz on Chess.com...
But getting there is what matters lol! And I got there in the end! This definitely isn't a concluding extract, I still have set myself bigger goals to achieve! And I believe the next few years would be even more hype for me than now!
I guess the main reason for creating this forum post was to share with you guys and for myself to see my improvement on Chess so to inspire you guys to keep dreaming and keep pushing for completing your goals (doesn't have to be chess related!).
Now onto hitting 2100+ Blitz and breaking the 2000 Blitz rating barrier!!! My saga continues...

Yay! After some time of me racing for elo, I hit 2100+ Blitz!!! This definitely has become more challenging than breaking the other rating barriers, as evident from the many grueling months that it took for me to break this barrier. But as they say, the journey is worth more than the destination, and doing this time I feel like I have constructed a much more helpful and "complete" opening repertoire, as well as substantially increasing my tactical awareness (especially in low time situations) by doing PBs (puzzle battles) and 3-minute puzzle rushes almost daily. Needless to say, I still have got a long way to go for my chess journey in order to attain so called mastery at the game. Thus my saga continues...

@iloveguppy yes i agree puzzle rush totally improve our game. the rating make sense since ur puzzle rush is 40+ and mine 31. the problem im facing is consistency. my rating going up and down like a roller coster lol. reaching 1700 then 1400. sometimes i dont have mood and motivation. probably lack of guidance too. do keep us posted on ur progress. i want to know what else did i do wrong

Let's go!!! After months of plateauing, I finally improved by several dozens of points and reached 2200 Blitz! This felt much harder than reaching the 2100 level as, for many months, I was unable to even reach 2150 and would always tilt down to the high 2000s/low 2100s after reaching ~2130. But after I managed to increase my playing speed and make fewer silly blunders, it didn't seem to be such a hard ordeal.
However, improving from here on would definitely be more challenging, and with increasing school work, I would have less time to dedicate to chess. However, I would try my best to continue to improve and break as many rating barriers as I can!
Now, onto hitting 2300+ Blitz and breaking the 2200 Blitz rating barrier!!!

Haha, in all honesty, though, I think I'm far from being a great chess player. But yeah, there is a whole assortment of ways to improve: raise tactical awareness, manage time control, learn openings, understand endgame ideas, build mental endurance, and increase positional understanding. As for me, I just focus on tactical training; I play Puzzle Battle and Puzzle Rush daily. This helps for Blitz, but for OTB classical, not so. Each chess player is different; thus, what works for one person might not work for the other. Keep experimenting with different improvement methods until you find one that suits you best, and then seriously exploit that improvement method.
I see that you have a really good improvement trend, and for someone who has only been playing chess for one year, you're doing well !!! Keep doing what's suitable for you and see how it goes.
Good luck, @medelpad!!!
I must say, @iloveguppy, you are significantly improving. Keep it up!
