What would be some openings you would suggest me to play as white and black considering I like to play aggressively and some of my openings which I currently play are ponziani , smith-mora gambit for example.
Thank you
Ask your GM Chesscoach

Hello Jitterboxes, The simple answer is just to play more OTB. If you don't have opportunities to play much, then a board with internet connection is a solution. For example a Squareoffnow board.

One more question:
If you studied from books while improving, ...
Can you please list the top few books that had the greatest impact on you own improvement (long before GM)?

Hey Swimmerbill, I've read many. But here are three: My great predecessors part 2 and 3 from Garry Kasparov, Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual, and a personal favorite is Positional Decision making by Boris Gelfand. Otherwise just a bunch of opening books.

Which are the best lins for the king's gambit
Hard to say, I believe the best line for Black (according to Stockfish) is 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 g5

The Scotch-Gambit is a lot of fun with White and with Black the modern Tarrash (without ...Nf6, a.ka. The Von Hennig-Schara) is very topical. Against 1.e4 the Alekhine is a personal favorite. Not easy to deal with up to 2000 Fide-level.

Thanks! I've worked through Gelfand in detail and liked t a lot. Love Dvoretsky too but mainly like a car repair manual: for looking up what I just misplayed and learning it. I 'll look at Parts 2&3 of MGP based on your recommendation!

Oh thanks! one last what would you suggest me as an opening to learn against d4 knowing my play style and something I'd like too

I'm currently hovering around 1600 - 1700 zone . Will I be able to get to 2000 by the end of the year ? Will I even be able to get to 1800 ? I'm a teen with close to nothing in the name of work or hobbies and I'm willing to spend a lotta time towards improving at chess .

The Von Hennig-Schara, in combination with the Tarrasch is very topical nowadays against 1.d4.

Hey VivPlayzX777. That all depends on you. If you practice and play often then for sure you should be able to get 2000 at some point. I wouldn't focus on the goal though, focus on learning.
