Bad Losers on Chess.com

Hang in there Brother! I had to learn to have some THICK skin when I first joined but with time I do feel like part of a Community! There are some characters both in these forums and in Daily play. I've made a lot of friends...

I figure if they know the game is lost, they delay ending the game to keep their rating up as long as possible.

Re: children - online sites such as this one are not supposed to have members under 13, right? So, if you suspect someone is under that age, I suppose you can always report the possibility and Chess.com can check that out. Re: abandonment - I had that happen, and I asked support, and it turns out the guy lost his connection and couldn't get it back in time. So, sometimes someone may not be being rude. Mostly, though, rudeness happens in online gaming, alas, that's been true for a long time.
Children under 13 are allowed here, but they're supposed to be supervised.

Heh, I understand your situation here. It should hopefully get better once you get to a higher level, as people are suggesting.
Story time: I was playing a 10 minute rapid game, not even half the timer was gone, it seemed they had an inevitable defeat, they stall until they have around 30 seconds left, then message me: "bro are you from ohio :.skull:"

That's a sick burn in the end. Definitely more creative than the rude speculation about what my mother does for a living that I used to get pretty often until I just permanently disabled chat.

Yes, but I am actually from ohio. He was talking to me as if I'd done something wrong, and automatically assumed only people from ohio would do this thing that is "wrong."

Two or three times lately I've been in such a foul mood that, with neither a desire to resign or play the game out, I just gave my pieces away, specifically to take the teeth out of the win. That's just straight-up rude.

The worse the opponent the more likely they are to do odd behaviors like abandoning instead of resigning, or asking for draws when they're completely losing, or not moving when they have one legal move or something else unsporting. Just be glad you play rapid rather than correspondence.

Wait, Ohioans don't actually play chess like this?
I love when this happens. On my level, however, then analysis predictably shows the game was indeed a mutual blunderfest.

I canot even imagine the level of frustration if after 6 months of slowly and carefully working your way into a winning position in a correspondance game your opponent just stops responding!

Learn to live with the nonsense here.
Excellent advice and I fully intend to. It won't stop me moaning about it though!

Thanks for the encouragement Mark, that's good to know!

Not being American I assume that's an insult? What's up with Ohio? There's an American born comedian in the UK called Rich Hall, who comes from Montana. He says that it's so flat there in Montana that when your dog runs away from you, you can still see it running away the next day. Hahaha!
By all accounbts it appears I have gotten away lightly thus far!

Thanks everyone for the advice, support, and anecdotes. Maybe we should create a "Polite Players Only" league, where the expectation is that you abide by the spirit as well as the letter of the rules and say "Good luck to you" at the start and "thanks very much for a fantastic game" at the end
