Blitz change has tanked my performance

i used to play pretty much exclusively 10/0 and after a few months i had managed to get to 930ish. Since the change over the last week of play my rating/performance has dropped by 100 and i feel this is only going to continue. Definitely has killed a bit of my drive for chess since i was seeing slow but steady improvement before this change (obviously i am still a very weak player overall).

I know i could play rapid now but blitz was how i always judged my progress but at 5/5 i am being dominated. I don't think it's just the time format change but also the quality of players. Any tips on how to get over this hurdle?

Beat up some of the bots over at Live until you get some confidence back?   You can choose to play some with really lame ratings; you may not gain many points, but winning is more fun than losing...

What was the change over?

I see my bullet rating has increased with no games played.

Yeah, that was one of the changes.  They decided everyone's bullet rating was too low and bumped it up what, 100, 150 points?   Since I don't play bullet, I didn't pay much attention to the announcement so I don't remember the reason they gave.

Here's the announcement about bullet:

Bullet Chess Ratings Increased By 150 Points

In a recent review, we found that bullet chess ratings are consistently about 150 points lower than blitz ratings. To correct this, we are increasing bullet chess ratings for all active bullet users on the site by 150 points. This change will take place on the next login to chess.com/live.

Oh and the changeover took 10/0 Blitz and made it Rapid.

What's the reasoning for the blitz change? I feel a lot of people are going to be in a similar situation where if they want to continue playing blitz right now they are going to see a big dip in performance. I've lost the last 15 out of 16 games .

Just play 10|0. It's the same game, just rated under rapid. The only real difference is that the first move abort timer is a little longer now.

I only play the 10/0 time format. My games switched from Blitz to Rapid.

I have noticed it is much easier to play and win now that the 10/0 format has switched from Blitz to Rapid.

I suspect there is more computer assisted cheating taking place in the Blitz category as opposed to the Rapid category.  I suspect the Blitz cheaters go for the longest time format available in Blitz.

play 9 min 59 sec. that should fall in the blitz category

No one plays in that time format

I've seen a big jump in my rating from the change. Is my new rating accurate? I was previously 1200-1250 playing 10|0 exclusively. Right now I'm at 1420 but all my games have large +/- elo swings

all 10/0 games games in the past 90 days's ratings have been transferred to rapid so if u lost a lot then u loose rapid or sth along with they paired rapid = blitz and blitz is normally higher so yeah, it's basically inflation
