Castleing

So recently I played a game with a person who castled even though I blatantly indicated with my moves that I was going for their queen. I get that castleing is a textbook move but I feel like many people do it just because and I don’t get it. Is it just a matter of routine or just blindness. I’ve encountered this multiple times so I’m turning to the forums. For the number of times i’ve seen this I now come to the conclusion that many do it just for the heck of it. Why?

He might not have seen his queen was hanging. It happens. Especially at lower levels. People play way too fast and don't realize their pieces are hanging.

Castle early and often, except when your queen is hanging...

Some players may castle out of habit or routine without carefully evaluating the position.
