OK, I challenge you: what is the name of the Swedish Gas Regulator?
Challenge me!

ArtFizz asked: OK, I challenge you: what is the name of the Swedish Gas Regulator?
JRadis replied: Thanks, I should probably say that my rating is 1480.
I'm sorry, that's incorrect. The answer I have on my card is: Smörgåsbord.

ha ha nice artfizz. I searched swedish gas regulator and I only saw websites talking about motor homes...and then your post came up in the top ten on google. Oh, and JRadis send me a challenge! You can choose black or white

What is a Gas Regulator?
Is this a trick question like: What's a Grecian urn? About 100 drachmas a day!
A Regulator is an organisation (known as an Authority) set up by a national government. Its task is to determine strategy, set policy priorities and take decisions on a range of matters, including price controls and enforcement. In regard to Gas (and Electricity) in the UK, the Authority is called OfGem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) and its powers are provided for under the Gas Act 1986, the Electricity Act 1989, the Utilities Act 2000, the Competition Act 1998 and the Enterprise Act 2002. http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/About%20us/Pages/AboutUsPage.aspx
A Gas Board is slightly different. In the early 1900s the gas market in the United Kingdom was mainly run by county councils and small private firms. In 1948 that all changed with The Gas Act 1948 brought in by Clement Attlee's Labour government. The act nationalised the UK gas industry and 1062 privately owned and municipal gas companies were merged into twelve Area Gas Boards each a separate body with its own management structure. Each Area Board was divided into geographical groups or divisions which were often further divided into smaller districts. These boards simply became known as the "Gas Board", a term people still use when referring to British Gas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Gas_plc
The Swedish Gas Regulator is Energimarknadsinspektionen (Swedish Energy Market Inspectorate).
To avoid confusion, I should add that a gas regulator is something completely different from a Gas Regulator.
All of this is about a million therms away from Smörgåsbord or your challenge. Sorry about that! How are the challenges coming along?

That's a fair start. I find using Start New Game to create Open Seeks with a restricted range to be quite effective. I probably go for 1/3 opponents rated the same or less than me, 1/3 rated the same or a bit higher, and 1/3 unrestricted. (You have to include your own rating in the range if you use a restriction.) Throw in a few Greeter games (as you are already doing) and you should end up with a mixed bag of nuts.
Tournaments are a good source of games. If you pick a tournament with 12 participants in a single group, you will receive 22 challenges! The point that the next level of chess.com membership offers participation in a greater number of tournaments was a powerful incentive for me to sign up.

I cant join the chess.com normal tournament becouse Ive got more than 10 % timouts. That almoust all of them came during the summer when the vacationtime ended makes me even more happy :)
thegab03... What do you mean?

My guess is that no-one knows what thegab03 means - least of all himself!

You are proubly right but if there arnt more people who whants to talk here we might as well continue speaking just us two, the others does not seem to be that intrested...

I can't be the only one who knows nothing about Sweden (surely tunatin knows nothing as well?) and is taking this opportunity to find out - as well as double-checking whether JRadis is genuinely Swedish!
My 2nd challenge: name any 3 Abba songs (give the titles in English and Swedish!)

Well Im only 16 years old so I might not be that great at this but I should be able to fix 3 songs. Last time I was in London I actually saw the musical in English (never seen it in swedish actually).
1st Waterloo, the only one that I know had both swedish and english lyrics (now there are some swedish lyrics to the song since that they whanted it in swedish but they arnt originally form abba).
2 Mamma Mia (not sure in the spelling).
3 Dancing queen (think its the only song they play two times in the musical)
Hi, please challenge me if you have a rating between 1300 and 1800. Other challenges are of course accepted but then our chessstrength will be a bit uneven. I would like to have more challenges going and meet more chessplayers. Especially you that are big talkers are extremely welcome!
I usually play 5days/move but I log in almost everyday so I will accept almost any challenges.
