Cheaters

Chess.com has a BIG problem.

Cheaters.

Imagine beating people who have worked their way up the rating ladder, just to lose rating points against a machine.

I don't really see the point of cheating. It doesn't improve your chess skill in any way (well, maybe reading the chess notation). Cheaters waste their own spare time to create an account using a randomly generated email to annoy the heck out of people and ruining the chess experience.

Here are the signs of a cheater:

  • New account (You can usually find these ones on the leaderboard in rapid arena)
  • 96%+ accuracy in multiple games over 20 moves
  • Has gained a lot of ELO points in a short period of time (e.g. 452 points in a week)
  • Takes a similar amount of time to make each move - this is because the cheater sees the move played by us (the unfortunate opponent), inputs that in the engine, sees what the engine thinks is the best move and plays that move against us
  • Plays moves which you don't see have any use until many moves later (especially if you are 200+ rating points higher than them)

Now, as cheating is rampant, any suggestions on how Chess.com should address this issue?
