Chess.com does cheat with pairings

Sort:

My settings for rating is to only play someone within 100 rating. Chess.com sometimes tries to force me to play someone 200+ below me. I abort all of these. Furthermore, when I reject too many of these so called challenges outside my specified rating range they take away the abort button and force me to play again some -200+ players. Chess.com pairings are more rigged that any Fide tournaments.

It's best not to abort. Whenever I accidently fumbleclick start a game. I play it through. It's happened twice. Aborting is not good sportsmanship.

Perhaps you did not understand. If Chess.com has it in their settings to give players to assign rating ranges of outgoing challenges, assigning opponents outside this specified and exact rating range is disrespectful to the player. Aborting these games has nothing to do with sportsmanship when the Chess.com pairing system is actively breaking its own rules.
I would not be surprised if the pairing system does other behaviour like this, but the developers of Chess.com actively try to hide this.

Ur last 15-20 games are within 100 rating as of now

but this forum will get locked if we talk about this!! How about we all make a club together and make sure that rating is fair?

You can change the pairing sin the settings

Just change it to +25 and -25

Gemma_Santos3119

For me, it still will occasionally give me someone way under my range settings.

BigChessplayer665

I only get my rating range or above I like playing against tough opponents sometimes servers glitch it hasn't happened recently for me

BoardMonkey

Aborting is bad but I understand your frustration. The algorithm is way off.

QathetMike

Perhaps, after a period of time, the computer gives up trying/waiting to find an opponent in the selected range and provides the next closest player?

How long are you prepared to wait for a game, that meets your criteria?

Khnemu_Nehep

If they're rated 200 elo below you, you should win easily, right ?
Or maybe you're scared because you're not rated correctly and fear losing your rating ??
xD just play man, no matter who plays you.

BigChessplayer665

That's not how elo works lower rates players are hard to beat

BoardMonkey

Mop the floor with them. Maybe the algorithm will stop sending them your way.

That's exactly how elo works. Lower rated players should not be harder to beat. If they are, you're overrated.

no it's not that it isn't good sportsmanship. Sometimes you do not have the time to play. When I get a player with low rating, I abort. Aborting won't do any harm

BigChessplayer665

Actually thats insulting+bad spoetmanship to the lower rated player just play it out if you loose oh well move on I understand not having time to play tho

Exactly. The only problem is if you do it too many times, your account gets suspended. But if you only do it once in while it doesn't do anything.

Gemma_Santos3119

If you don't have time, you just don't have time.
