There ought to be a Tibetan flag available for profiles.
PleasantEscalator

Hm first

PleasantEscalator

But yeah maybe there should be though Tibet isn’t a country anymore

ChanaDorje
There is still a Tibet, though it’s occupied. And, there’s a Tibetan Government in Exile.

Moonwarrior_1

Hmm

ChanaDorje

KingMonkey400

I have a question.

KingMonkey400

How is having flags political at all?

KingMonkey400

Too be honest I just do not see how it is relevant too politics but pls enlighten me goldenwriter.

a_saint

Just a state of mind...

...but meanwhile we are occupied by California

KingMonkey400

Um ok?

KingMonkey400

But I really want too know why flags are a part of politics.

KingMonkey400

Tbh the fact that this forum even exists is making Chess.com political.

a_saint

Flags have military associations more than political, monkey.

KingMonkey400

So?  My point exactly they aren't or shouldn't be political.

Well, again, I don’t want to start a whole “thing,” but, Tiber is occupied by China, which invaded by force in the late 50s, and claimed falsely that Tibet had always been part of China. This is nonsense, of course, but a system of ethnic cleansing, cultural annihilation and genocide have been in place ever since.
A great many Tibetans(Including the Dalai Lama and the Karmapa,) escaped to exile in India, where, in Dharamsala, they established the Tibetan Government in Exile, and there it remains.
The Chinese government has banned Tibetans from displaying (or even owning) their own flag, and they have threatened and intimidated anyone, and any nation, which acknowledges the truth: Tibet exists, it’s not part of China, and the Tibetan people are not an “ethnic minority “ in China, but are instead a nation and people unto themselves... and always were.
That’s why the Tibetan flag and language are often excluded online.and that’s why bringing it up can be politically sensitive.
KingMonkey400

Ok so China is bad I think we all already knew that but until a Tibetan( is that what they are called?) actually is offended bc if you aren't from Tibet then you shouldn't be speaking for them.

KingMonkey400

Idc if a Tibet flag is brought here as long as Chess.com stays a fun and entertaining way for people to learn the beauty of chess.

KingMonkey400

All I got to say so have a great day (:
