the truth
chess.com is becoming social media

As it should be. That is what people used to do in real life.
Go to a coffee shop. Drink coffee. Play chess and talk.
Dude that is not what I mean 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I mean that it’s becoming less of a place for playing chess and more of a place for kids and teens to chat in clubs and forums and stuff like that! And most of the stuff is just casual talking and speaking slang.

Social media and Apps are what is making people become less and less intelligent as generations progress. The smartest ones are Gen X. Here is a rundown of generations and how social media has impacted them.
Silent Generation (1925 to 1944) - Were in their 50s to 70s when the internet became available. Barely understand social media. Advanced technology to them is email.
Baby Boomers (1945 to 1959) - Use email regularly. Can text and browse the internet on their desktop or laptop. Might online shop. Advanced technology for them is Facebook.
Gen X (1960 to 1978) - This is the transition generation that has done it all. From getting up to change the channel and writing checks and taking film to the store to be processed in childhood to transitioning to remote controls, web-based items like online banking, online bill pay, and streaming services. Advanced technology for them would be things like Snap Chat and Tik Tok, many of whom (myself one of them) just don't feel it is worth getting involved in that as a lot of it is nothing more than naive teenagers.
Gen Y (or Millenials - 1979 to 1996) - They are the first to miss out on the manual process of doing things. From using flash cubes on cameras to getting off your butt to change the channel on the television. In the work force, many of those born in the latter stages of this generation (after 1990) tend to expect more done for them. They tend to want everything done their way and handed to them on a silver platter. Like the world owes them something. They are also the beginning stages of social life going a different direction, leading to the start of a sharp decline in communication skills.
Gen Z (1997 - 2010) - This is where communication skills really go in the tank and weight gain among children started getting really bad. The internet was around when the were born, and social media, like Facebook, while in their single digits. With Facebook, Instagram, chat rooms, etc, becoming the norm, nobody actually went to the playground or outside to play other than possibly recess in elementary school. By middle school, everyone is sitting on their duff, socializing on the internet and eating junk food, getting zero exercise and expanding the gut. This is also the time that schools went away from basics like grammar and long division, and instead has used some type of core program, and basically teaching kids how to take the end of year exam and not educating them properly. Now, with them being anywhere from teenagers to young adults, less than half can even write a coherent sentence. They cannot speak professionally when they should. They think everything is social media with their Friday night friends, and are doing things like working in restaurants and saying unprofessional thinks like "What's up boss?" or "What do you want to drink boss man?". These are also the ones that think "bruh" is English. With maybe a few rare exceptions, if my waiter or waitress is under 30, service tends to be very unprofessional. Most of them are also on their phones half the times rather than helping and checking on customers. They don't talk professionally. They don't act professional. Their grammar is terrible. Again, there are polite, professional, and intelligent Gen Z'ers, but this is the first generation where they are in the minority.
Gen Alpha (2011 to now) - Sitting on the couch or bed with no "in person" social life is just getting worse and worse. Weight gain is just as bad, if not worse, than Gen Z. Schools are on the decline because teachers still get paid what they got in the early 2000s but yet the cost of living has not remained stagnant. So all the good teachers leave for a higher paying career, and many of the bad ones remain. Also, the late Millenials and Gen Z are starting to teach these kids, which with their lack of communication skills, the problems snowball, from how to communicate themselves professionally to handling these train wreck. Ill-behaved elementary and middle-school kids. The downside to social media has snowballed into an outright avalanche. With things like Tik Tok being where their attention goes, this world may very well come to an end, but not for the reasons originally thought!
GOD HELP US ALL!
