Over 1500 is high...
Not really. Arpad Elo considered 1500 average when he designed the system, Think about this: the overwhelming majority of chess players on this site are substantially below average.
Even the USCF considers C class (1400-1599) players the "average" chess player
They tend to be below average in our local tournaments. Most active local players are A and B class. The D and C players are few, and underrated: kids and old guys who are inconsistent but very capable.

How many A players do you get in local tourneys?

The last event I played in was last April. There were 19 participants (smaller than normal)
Above 2000 = 1 he finished tied for 5th
1800-1999 = 5 top four places and #8
1600-1799 = 2
1400-1599 = 2
1200-1399 = 6 (one an underrated youth who recently returned to OTB play in the US after four years in India; one provisional)
Below 1200 = 1 (provisional)
Unrated = 2 (one had post-event rating of 1705)
So, with the player whose provisional after the event was 1705, 9/19 were above 1600. The player at his floor of 1500 turns out to have been the median rating so my claim is slightly inaccurate.
I tied for 3rd, losing only to the event winner. Our game was published with his annotations in Northwest Chess.

Lucky you.
I used to have a friend in second grade named Abraham. I remember going out with his parents for chick fil a, where he ordered coke. I was a bit stunned since I was told that drinks weren’t healthy for me. So I asked him if he knew they were unhealthy, and he said they were. Apparently that’s what his mom told him.
Ooh best troll since coolout
Who's Coolout?
A guy on Lichess who was here for less than a year.
Played 5 more games, still have 80% win rate. What now, haters??? I am just simply too good.
That was because I looked up how to play "Queen's Gambit" and I was testing out and it wasn't perfect but I would have won if I kept playing. Also, you don't want to have your winrate be 100%, so you pretend to be less than who you really are. I don't want to be accused of cheating like Hans Niemann.
is this man actually researching while typing his statement
buddy you just have to get the extra 0.1 accuracy
I've seen the dawn of time
don't question it
don't be shy
don't worry about it
DON'T BE SHY
