Another interesting question is which country or countries have the STRONGEST team (eg: the most top-50 GMs) relative to the country's total population-base.

So maybe I've got a little too much time on my hands, but I was pondering about which country's National Team has the most members considering the population of their country.
I used the Clubs Leaderboard of chess.com and selected only the National Teams from the first eight pages to get the membership numbers of those clubs. I then looked up the current populations of those countries and did some basic math.
Disclaimer: I only used the first eight pages, so somewhere on page thirteen or twenty-six there might be a small club with a relatively high membership - but I actually do have a limited amount of time to waste.
These are the top fifty, and some of the results might surprise you.
