This is officially the most unique Chess thread I have ever read.
You could try flirting with him while in-game. Don't be annoying about it, but flirt every 3-5 moves. Depends if he's a rules guy, though, I suppose. If he raises his hand while you're flirting, then that option is pretty much out.
You could ask to see his game after a match, and then endlessly compliment his moves. Especially the game-winning combo/checkmate.
After about a month of that, you should just be up front with him. Take him aside for that, or you can be bold and do it in front of that Chess Club.
Who knows, its late, and I'm half awake. Maybe my semi-lucid advice will help, lol.
Sounds like a dolt if he hasn't felt the subtle slap of your advances yet. If he ignores you this well now, just wait till you're an item, it'll be almost as though you're invisible ; )

yeah. had it done a few years back to try get attention from this chess guy at my club! worked initialy but he was just using me a play thing so we went our seperate ways............
lol. well i think that in the end maybe you should ask him to do something outside of the club. like duringa game ask if he wants to catch up somewhere or do whatever is popular within your group. or you could gather courage and tell him upfrount. sometime you gotta bite the bullet :) good luck

Want his attention as him to help you with a chess move or how to get out of a sticky chess move, you now get his attention while stroking his EGO, guys like that.
So what is it you find so attractive about this never-catches-a-clue guy?

You know, guys like that can be oblivious to anything that is not upfront. The only way is to actually talk to him I guess. He's probably not going to take initiative.
Stop flirting and just ask him out, if it doesn't work at least something happenend...

How bout something like coming up to him (in private) with a line like 'you be the king and I'll be the queen, lets go make some moves...' Really, with some guys (raising hand here), you must be totally direct with what you want. We tend to be dense...

You sound like my wife... always trying to hint about this or hint about that. Forget the hints. Guys don't do hints. Just ask him if he would like to go out on a date. It's as simple as that. If he says no, he's either gay (hey, it's possible) or he's simply not attracted to you. If he's not attracted, please don't take it personally. It doesn't mean you're not attracTIVE, it just means you may not be his type, that's all.
But most importantly, stop beating around the bush. Our brains are not wired that way.

I need some help and thought someone here might be able to help me. How do you sweep a chess player off his feet? Say there is this guy in your chess club and say you have been madly inlove with him for like forever. You have tried to dazzle him with your amazing chess moves but alas he is much (much, much, much) better than you, you have tried 'accidently' touching his hand when you move pieces or switch a board, you have tried standing really close to him when you watch games so he can smell the perfume you bought ESPECIALLY TO WEAR TO CHESS CLUB!!!
