ok, im not sure 100% sure on this, but like years ago (around 2006) i really wanted to get into chess and had no one to play with (well, i had my friend but he sucked), so long story short, google searched chess and landed on chess.com. but for some reason, i dont know why, back then i didnt know what correspondence chess was all about, and there was no live feature, so i left ... and then in 2008, i come back to this site (cant remember how, probably thru google) and its completely different, and then i started to fall in love with chess all over again ... especially turn-based!

now here's my question ... i know this site started in early 2007, but im pretty sure there was something going on in 2006 or very early in 2007, it was still chess.com but the site was competely different ... like the logo and everything ...

i hope this isnt all in my head or something or i went to the wrong site back then  ... but i have this feeling that this site went thru huge change ...

am i right or wrong ?

I believe chess.com took over the old Chess mentor web site and was under construction" for quite some time. I am not sure of the dates but my guess is that you were looking at the old Chess Mentor web site

ok so today was completely random, my friend came over and showed me this site, where you can look up any site and see what it was like a few years back (upto 1996 of course because thats when the net became available to the public)

anyway, long story short ... here's what chess.com looked like ... the domain name was owned by many people ... the site back in 1996 was actually just CHESS MENTOR! how crazy is that!
