Chess.com establish date

How long has chess.com been going

Since 1996 (maybe even 1995), but it was very different to what it is now. I don't know about Chess.com in its current form.

I think Erik bought the domain name (or whatever it's called) and started the present website in 2007.  I'm often wrong...

After a bit of searching, it seems this time you're right (on both counts; it is indeed called a domain name ).

We took over the name and opened the doors for this site May 18th 2007

Looks like Chess Mentor, or at least the concept of it, was purchased along with the domain name. Very interesting...
