Chess.com Feature Request and Wishlist #4

In addition to "topics I have posted in" (which is a great feature), how about "topics <member X> has posted in". I find there are some posters who almost always have well thought out, smart things to say. It would be nice to get a list of threads they've participated in (not just threads they've started!).

Great idea, the first man on my list would be likesforests, his posts are always so logical and relevant.

A really basic thing I've always wondered for tournaments:

Why are players "seeds" not listed? It's obvious they're assigned, so why isn't there a number next to the player showing their respective seed? Makes it more interesting for folks like me who like analysis, and would take all of 30 seconds to add.

In the meanwhile, you'll just have to use google's site-specific search ...

likesforests site:www.chess.com/forum

or ("by likesforests" ... - if you want to exclude posts where he is merely mentioned).

I'm pretty sure that the seeks on the turn based chess page are filtered to only show those that you are eligible to accept (based on the rating bookends).

It would be great if live chess filtered the seeks in the same manner.

xMenace

I'd like to track games. Sometimes there's a key game going on that will decide a tournament, and I'd like to be notified when moves are made.

Definately! Maybe an option for the players to not allow too.

I'd like to bookmark game explorer positions. If I'm using it in a game, I spend lots of time recreating the position.

i say make the upgrades less expensive

TheGrobe

It's not their ratings, but the ratings bookends they put on their seeks and whether your rating falls within those bounds.

Expensive? you're having a laugh! $30 a year for gold is approximately 60c a week. Can you buy a quality newspaper or a coke for that? You can't here in England (or many of the developed European countries I've visited). $30 is fine value, I'm amazed people say things like that.

I'd love to see that feature using the ECO code.

I support your view and for those not familiar here are 2 links for the ECO code:

Regards,

It was a response to your request to list the opening along side your games archive.  You responded at the time (see above) and didn't seem unclear about the context then.

TheGrobe

When you look at a seek you can't see the bookends that they've set, but I think you can be assured that your rating is within the range they've chosen.  Looking at the ratings of the seek originators doesn't tell you anything.  The rating bookends are the min/max that you can enter when you create a seek.  You're rating has no relationship to the bookends you choose, other than your min must be no higher than your own rating.

How about being able to see list of games by type in live chess: eg. blitz, long, etc so that we can choose to watch type of games we like faster without having to go through the whole list?

That would be neat.

It is not even possible, at the moment, to bookmark board positions within a game (as discussed in post #322 ... http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=12148699?move=16?comment="what's the longest no. of moves that two queens have been en prise from each other?" so that a board was opened at the specific position when you clicked on the link.)

A closer integration between Game Explorer and the playing board (http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/fully-integrated-game-explorer) would also be a way of achieving this.

TheGrobe

I wish I could grab the FEN for the currently displayed position on any board on the site.  It would make grabbing positions and putting them into a post much, much easier than it currently is.

alexandrumag

Agreed. Just being able to paste them in the Game Explorer alone would be fabulous

TheGrobe

Hmm, truthfully I didn't know that you could set it there, but it looks like it does the same thing  (I suspect it sets up default bookends for your seeks).

When you create a seek (Start New Game), there is a "More Advanced Options" link.  You can set the bookends here as well.  I'm pretty sure that the seeks you see under the open seeks page are only those where the seek's creator has set up bookends that contain your rating.

TheGrobe

Bookends = Upper and lower boundaries.

Xhris

Very minor vote chess moan. Can we have the number of votes listed and not just the percentages for each move? Might just be the way my brain works but it seems far more obvious to show a number rather than a percentage.
