Chess.com Feature Request and Wishlist #5

The game explorer in-game link doesn't work with games which have already started with a pre-chosen opening.
For instance: http://www.chess.com/tournament/3rd-chesscom-theme-tournament---reversed-sicilian-1601-1800
It also doesn't work with any of the archived Live chess games, which would be a useful feature for post-game analysis.

the first issue will be fixed in a few days. the second... when live chess is fixed.

When I play someone, I would like to have a good idea of how solid they are at their current rating (e.g. even though someone's rating says 1100, are they really a solid ~1100 or are they an 1800 that has timed out on a lot of games, etc.) To help solve this, is there a way we could get the top rating of a player for the last 60 or 90 days? I know that subscribing to a higher level will bring you more stats on a person, but my suggestion is just to help clarify how "real" the user's displayed rating is. Or is that best known by instead finding people that have played a ton of games (e.g. and therefore their rating is more representative of their skill level)?
By the way, Erik, glad to be on as a paying member! Looong overdue....

Given that you're a premium member, if you look at their detailed stats there is a graph of their rating history. Their RD value should also be available, which give you an idea of the confidence level of their rating.

Yeah, I wish I could, but if I read this right, I think any level above Gold gets those perks -- I can only see my own full stats.

this isn't a wish per se, but i think it would only help clean up some of the #*%^ that pops up in the forums...
give non-paying members limited posts in forums--maybe per day. 10... 5 maybe. and definitely limit the number of threads they can start. i know that non-paying members have questions that sometimes are most easily (for them) answered in a new thread, but they should not have free reign to start thread after thread after thread. and post over and over after post. and on and on.
this would not eliminate all terrible and useless threads, but it would help. also it would discourage some people from starting threads that address a subject that already has a thread--or 6 devoted to it.
i know that non-paying members will scoff, but i'm not really that worried about these scoffs... all the more reason to pay at that point.
come on big brother. what say ye?
keep up the good work.

Disagree. I think it might be a better idea to just moderate what exists already in a more efficient way.

also, take non paying member's chat rights away completely. (maybe that's not realistic) i think this would do SO MUCH good for this site. i suppose the downside would be that some honest and normal non paying members might stay away because of this, but it might do some good to separate the wheat from the tares. just a though. those who really want to chat will be more inspired to sack up and pay...

more likely is that we will be able to bury lame comments. if enough people bury it, then it disappears. not sure how to do that yet... not easy.

is it worth considering to further limit chat and forum rights erik? i know it's not fool-proof, but it seems to have some potential to fend us off from the stupidity.

Hi, new player/member.
Can I recommend a trophy? I'd like to see something like "mentor" for those people who taught you a thing or two.

I second DaveK's idea!
Also, we should have the "Explore" option (linking a game directly to the opening explorer containing that position) for Vote Games.
Also, I stand by my request that all chess.com games >2000 (to aviod too large a database) be searchable by premium mebers on chess.com, it would be very interesting to see how the statistics differed for chess.com games than for master (often older) games. Would also be very cool to see what new novelties (brilliant & blunderful) were created right here on this site. I hope can Erik make this possible again, it was one of the reasons I went Platinum!

Also this.

Looks like the "Explore" option for Vote Chess simply was not added yet (nor does it add your analysis moves as you make them, which would be very convienet for vote games because you could just C&P your line). I imagine it would be fairly easy to implement it there too now that it's been added to regular turn-based games already.

chess.com member games in the game explorer?
takeback your move in online chess(before your opponent had responded. )
BTW: this is a great chess variant site. some(or all) of them has a dumb computer but it has a lot of variants in it.
