PerfectGent - I appreciate your frustration, but if staff responded to every message here, the thread would be twice as unreadable. Sub-dividing etc is just wasted time that could be spent implementing these new ideas instead!

Erik has stated, in this thread, that he reads every post in it. I see no reason to believe this is not the case. Repeat suggestions are an indication to the staff that more than one person is interested in a specific improvement, so I wouldn't imagine they mind so much when that happens.

I understand there is a lot to go through, much of it redundant, and that certain parties aren't helping the issue, but every popular thread on the net is like this. It's supposed to be a place to dump your ideas, knowing they will be seen by the staff. I don't think you should have to read the whole thing first before being allowed to do so.

How about chess960 LIVE CHESS?

I'd like to see a another interface to the site for low bandwith countries.
For life chess. you've allready made something for mobile devices, so the code must be easy to transform to a fulscreen computer program.

This site has an international character, however internet bandwidth isn't like america in the rest of the world. And part of the charm to play here is to speak all the people from different countries. Chess unites people, however bandwidth disconects us. :(

Hi guys,

first of all congratulations for this great chess site.

Maybe I have little idea which hopefully can help, why don't you put aside any players page among the others things just a blank chess board (a setup board) which can be filled and disposed at everyone's need. I mean just one like more or less the "insert position games" which is very useful to post, but maybe sometimes players could need that for their own analysis, puzzles or whatever just inside the page.

I don't think it should be a great deal to be done from you and I'm sure everyone would find this a useful tool for further studying and playing.

Thanks everybody and ....... long live chess com ;-)

So you mean just like a random interactive board? But you would need it to be floating around or something, or in a new pop up, and that can be mildly annoying. Maybe a new feature where just a random empty interactive board where you can make it the intial position, clear, insert fen, pgn, and drag pieces on, and it shows the fen of the current position and such, which you can access on a drop down list. And the point of this feature is to use it in a new TAB, or another window (not pop up please, full page). You can just click on it whenever you want.

If you want this "board" on the side, then well, you have to keep scrolling back up to it maybe? and we don't have a lot of space. Make this a premium feature in the space where there is adverts? but then again, i don't really like it small. I prefer to not have it, although it can be an add on in the settings.

Satorichess, do you mean something like the analysis board, but available everywhere, able to load positions? It seems redundant to me, almost anywhere on the site where you need to do analysis the board is available, and there has to be some appropriate software or firefox plug-ins for more generic chess use... hasn't there?

*investigates*

grey_pieces,

if you mean this, it's obsolete (java applets have been declared protected heritage by unesco; they are heavy to load and among other things it doesn't recognize pgn if it contains comments, I've checked it)

The chess.com's javascript (javascript≠java) board is very well-built and I appreciate that now it has been implemented the possibility to view variants directly in the pgn on the right (thanks chess.com)

The only other amazing javascript chess board I've ever seen has been built by a chess.com member, Batalf, here - but it doesn't work as "analysis board".

Another well-known platform is winboard - it's another turn-around: instead of "tabbing", he'd have to "alt+tab"ing - he'd rather use the "insert position or game" button in the reply form...

I don't feel the need of another "floating" analysis board (I try to use the one available the less I can, I'd like to improve calculation) but satori is not the first one to ask for this, I've nothing against it and sometimes it could be really useful (i.e. when training, when watching a video lesson, etc)

Yeah, it does seem a little inflexible to have to have the thread locked.  These aren't locked without a new one being started so it's really just an arbitrary line in the sand -- you could just as easily draw your own.

Avatar of grey_pieces

Harrr - thanks, I deleted my post to declutter. I heard of winboard but the name escaped me today.

Paul211 - a month? A month? The amount of posting you have done talking about summaries on this thread alone is more total effort than actually doing it. I thought this was your area of expertise or something?

Avatar of General-Lee

Maybe an interactive master analysis from one of our games? (we're talkin once a year for diamonds)

Avatar of TheGrobe

That already happens once a week on Chess.com TV.

Avatar of TheGrobe

I don't really even need a summary -- I trust that Erik has his own and will prioritize accordingly.  I liken this to a suggestion box only slightly more transparent and I don't really feel I'm owed any feedback on the internal process that goes into what does and doesn't get chosen.  If my ideas are implemented then great.  If not, oh well, it won't stop me from submitting them because I'd like to help improve the site and I'm just happy that my feedback is welcome in the first place.

In forums, when someone quotes me, can I get a message so that I can be notified? I think many comments on forums are ignored because people dont they are eing quoted for whatever reason.

Yeah, that will be good...

Avatar of grey_pieces

"Track this forum topic" is more useful, because not everyone who speaks to you will quote you, eg "@hackattack....etc".

yeah chess 960 would be good!!!Cool
