One more thing I forgot. I brought it to staff before but I thought I'd post it here to see what others think too...

What about allowing animated gifs as our avatars like this

absolutely not!!! and if they are ever allowed then for those who feel like me then the way to stop them bouncing around and distracting you is to hit the esc key.

I didn't think about that.  It would be very distracting during a game.

 I didn't think about that either....scratch it

Other variants to spice things up like:

1. atomic chess-it's great fun

2. losers chess- ----II-----

I would like to see how much vacation time an opponent has left --put in in his profile with ratings etc. Also it would be a nice parameter in terms of accepting challenges etc just like ratings and time outs.

Kacparov

It's there when you accept the challenge.

Seconded.  You may be able to see this when you view a challange but that's the only place, unless they are currently on vacation, you can check this.

Agreed -- this is an invaluable stat that's only visible when your oppnent's actually on vacation.

I'd also love to be able to pre-schedule my vacation time and optionally publish it so that my opponents would also know when to expect me to be away.

I would like a new stat--recent time/move. A problem with the time/move stat is that it doesn't adjust quickly for someone who has played a lot of games but has changed his/her playing speed. For example, a guy with 1000 games might have played the first 950 averaging under one hour per move. Then for the most recent 50 games, he slows down to three days per move. The recent time/move would use only the most recent, say, 50 games (the exact number would be open for discussion). This would give us a better idea of what to expect in a game today.

TheGrobe

There are a couple of stats that could benefit from a moving average calculation -- average opponent rating is another.

for my groups, when i invite, i have to gather a bunch of usernames, which takes a long time. There should be a feature that fills out the box with random usernames.  Usually i have to go to the members page,  write down  a bunch of usernames,  go back to my group, and  invite them. Then I have to repeat . And repeat . And repeat. It takes a long time, that feature would be useful.

Ugh -- the last thing we need is a feature that makes it easier for people to spam group invites.  I get enough unsolicited invites as it is.

you just got to find easiest way to invite.....2mins for me to invite 30 people...

 What is that?

How about Chess for the Samsung Rant... I can't get it on my phone and I would really like too...

Seconded

I think given the huge number games people play at once that any moving average stat should be time based ie last month, 6 months, year or whatever--if someone is playing 200 games at once any stat for the last 50 games is pretty meaningless

PeterArt

What would be nice is improvement of the webservers.
For example what if the images (knight queen etc) could be cashed localy?
I think thats possible on webserver to give expiration times on content, so clients can cash will localy. And maybe a lowbandwidth version for life chess, more simplistic (people dont have everywhere fast internet in the world).

for groups it would be nice to have subfolders in the forums.
So you can got to yourgroup\gamesyouliketoshow\ and then post them there
or you can go yourgroup\famousquotes\.. etc.

And i'm waiting for more bank system to becomme a member (called 'IDEAL') i hope this will be implemented so i can becomme a member too. (maybe investigate some more banks, since the site attacts people from all around the world, dont forget that..) For the same reason maybe have localized version of the website english/spanish/frensch etc..

What about 5 minutes vote chess? 10 minutes games can take up to 20 hours, they're too exhausting!

it would be awesome and more time outs lol

No, 10 minutes would have more timeouts, because someone may sit and play a whole 5 minute game, but not 10 minute game (if it has 40+ moves)...

OpeningGambit

Maybe the option to sort members by rating, alphabetical, or time as a member?

Thanks,

Any chance for adding other variants? (i.e. Atomic, Giveaway, Crazyhouse, Losers?)

Yes - that would be great fun!  :)

Since messages are always one-to-one (i.e. you can't have multiple recipients) I'd love the ability to have a "Reply" option in my sent items that copied all of the previous content (including my most recent message) and prepped a new message with the other person in the conversation just like the reply option in my received items (for the record, the conversation below is entirely fabricated):

Subject: Reply to Sent Items?

...I could then go into my Sent items like this and reply to you from there as well in order to ensure that the most recent content is included in the thread.

Well, after I reply to your message in my inbox like this...

Would you leave me alone already?  How would that even work?

Can we have a "Reply" link on our sent items?

DeepGreene

I'm quite impressed you got the little avatars in there and everything.  :)

TheGrobe

That post took me hours to construct.  Then the power went out and I had to start over plus I lost on Live Chess because of a disconnect.

(OK, OK -- it's a cut and paste job....)
