For Ability to choose which tab to start with in echess (some people prefer moves)

i just make this one of my homepages when my browser starts

http://www.chess.com/echess/myhome.html?show_all_current=1

also what about a missed mate opportunities calculator or even a more in depth game analyzer that one or both players can link to when a game is finished, maybe even with a continuation of the in-game chat.  Analysis could even be done with a client-side script or an optional Active-X control to reduce server load.  Just some ideas, you guys are way ahead of me as far as scripting goes.

Also I don't see a place for chess variants on chess.com.  There's too many of them and they're not chess.

And finally, I like #15 but I think a high powered laser would be more selective.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but at one point (and still in some games) the "Team Members" tab in vote chess games had/has both "Average Team Rating" and "Average Opponent Rating."  Now many of my games are only showing the "Average Team Rating" but not the "Average Opponent Rating" anymore.  I think mot people like to see this stat, and I'm not sure why it disappeared in some cases, but not others.

TheAOD

Is there a place on Chess.com where I can post general life requests like I would like to win the powerball on saturday....  It would also be convenient if someone could bring me a shrimp platter....  Oooh maybe some Krispy Kreams....

Obviously I'm joking but I think it is really cool that Erik is willing to consider all of our requests.  Life would be much better if Erik were the boss.....  All in good time I suppose.

Suggestion for Live Chess: Be able to right-click on a player's name and select an option to open up a PRIVATE chat window.

We shouldn't allow folks to play rated games where they choose their colour. I think there are several bad consequences: (1) some people will end up playing games with an unintended handicap and (2) the ratings of people who always play White will be skewed.

TheGrobe

I second the live-chess private chat (outside of a game window) and the "Chess.com Ladders" requests.

Agreed. I've told that once to a member of chess.com staff in Live Chess. It's awful not being able to chat privated.

The "best win" rating is more important than your own in many respects.  Your own rate can be contrived by playing lower rated opponents. It might be a good idea to increase the prominence given to the best win.  It could be done as follows:

display the rate against name e.g. buttonc 1590 (1583)

and on your profile instead of:

Current:

1590

Highest:

1681 (3 Aug 2008)

Avg. Opp.:

1421

Best Win:

1583 (    name    )

 thus:

Current:

1590

Highest:

1681 (3 Aug 2008)

Avg. Opp.:

1421

Best Win:

1583 (    name    )

It might encourage players to go for the heavyweights.

How it is handled, including how to deal with time-outs, can be a secondary issue.  Do you think the basic proposal is worth persuing?  Any comment from staff?

I know you asked to do not re-suggest one item from the list above; however I would put emphasis that I really love  this one: Mobile/iphone support.

Although it may be hard, I enjoy playing bughouse. If you don't know what it is, it's "team" chess. This may be one of the harder requests, but...

Not sure it's a good idea.  My best win right is against someone rated in the 1800s, but the only reason I won that game is because this person resigned after one bad blunder.  I don't think there's any way I would have won if they hadn't slipped up that one time.  I think frequently people's best wins could be the result of luck like that.

When are chess.com games going to be returned to the game explorer?

Mm40

If you have started a group (like me), there should be an option under the "action" panel in the upper-right-hand corner to invite someone to a group when viewing their profile or online chess profile. That way I don't need to navigate back to the group page to do so. Thanks.

p. s. If this already exists, please leave me a note

To reduce/stop contrived timeouts why don't we force moves as follows:

After a timeout period the game goes into "limbo".  The player is allowed (say) 12 moves on other games, but following those any further move is refused on any game until the game in limbo is addressed by either a move or resignation.

TheMoonwalker

In live chess, why does it say in blitz: Best win: n/a.

Ohhh, thats irritating, cause my best wins are pretty cool! (lol)

Moon...;)!

Alright I've got something. Would it be possible to add a few boards or be able to customize one such that people can play with odds? Don't know if players would use it, but with so much I hear about weaker players wanting to play stronger players to learn, I thought playing with say the queen's rook or something missing would be interesting.

  1. Tactics Trainer idea: classify positions as opening, middlegame, or endgame + tactical theme & show performance stats/ratings based on classifications to achieve more detailed Tactics Trainer Subratings, similar to Chess Mentor progress chart (of course don't display tactical theme name until after problem is solved)

  2. add pre-approval feature to group invitations

  3. chess.com mobile interface, live & turn-based (written with android?)

  4. chess.com jott link (phone in your turn-based moves by voice after seeing position on your mobile phone... perfect for mobile phones that have a web-browser but no stylus support)

Can you make it so that when you read your blog post it doesn't count as a read (by means of a cookie I imagine)? It's really annoying as by the time I have finished editing a post I have about 15 views from myself.

Not sure if this has been covered yet...in LIVE chess..or even turn based...have chess.com atuomattically tell you what opening you are playing. So it is easy to look up later.
