where did the moves button go?
Chess.com: Please Help Test This Feature!
hmm...
found a bug.
http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor.html on this page, i changed every black piece but the queen into bishops, and now everything is unmoveable..
After setting up a position in Position Setup, if you want to move White first in Analysis Board, the last chessman placed on the board during Position Setup must be Black (and vice versa). That's with Enforce Legal Moves enabled.
Uncheck Enforced Legal Moves and Analysis Board will accept Black or White as first move. Just uncheck Enforced Legal Moves so that Analysis Board will let you move either Black or White regardless of which color was the last chessman set up in Position Setup, then toggle-on to Enforce... for the rest of your Analysis.
However, even when legal moves are Enforced in Analysis Board, if you give each side two Bishops of the same color in Position Setup, Analysis Board does not recognize their moves as illegal. For instance, I set up two white Bishops for Black and two black Bishops for White and even placed all four on the same white-square diagonal, but Analysis Board let them capture each other with Enforce Legal Moves turned on.
Look like most of the bugs have been covered. Otherwise it's great. just get the bugs worked out and it will be better than great.
In Analysis Board Mode:
"Paste FEN" "Paste PGN" only work if we start from a new board, or after "new board" button is pressed.
The feature does not work if some other position is already there.
In Position Setup Mode:
After "paste FEN" buttons should read OK and Cancel, not Paste and Cancel.
In Game Editor mode:
after checking "Flip Board"/"Show Co-ordinates" mouse has to be clicked somewhere to make the selection effective (unlike in Analysis Board Mode).
"comment after move" button is not working (comment before move is working)
"set focus" button is not working
"copy PGN" opens the window, but still Ctrl-C has to be pressed to copy to clipboard
"paste PGN" opens a window which should have the buttons "OK" and "Cancel" - not "Paste" and "Cancel"
Ctrl-V has to be pressed
By dragging the yellow chessmen's box over each King, I made them disappear. "Clear Board" made them reappear. Curiosity killed the cat; satisfaction brought him back.
anonym thanks for the good clear explanations
I already use this feature daily now. I like how it is located right below the
"Resources" tab, so I can go right to it and study openings.
You should add next to "initial position" also some basic opening positions(later expand it) to start with and not just standard board. This way users dont have search the site for opening....You can liit this to paying members...The more you pay more openings you get....
Is it possible to have it displayed as per your online chess display preferences? Apologies if this feature is there and I've simply missed it.
it should already be displaying the color and pieces of your choice...
Can the link under resources open it in a new window, or be preferences switchable to be able to open it in a new window? My main use (and a lot of people's I assume) will be to use the analysis board while reading a thread. It would take out a step if we could put that straight in another smaller window.

hold down control when you click it, or right-click and "open in a new window" :)
Wow, this is great. I just analyzed a position from a book and I have to say that I really missed something like this.
But I have one question: would it be possible to make an option to save the position? Let's say we non-paying members can save 2-3 positions and paying members more - I think this would be yet another little detail that would help you getting paying members. I'm not sure how many other members than me would actually find this option useful though.
let's test the game editer feature, shall we?
