You know, for being here only one day, you seem to know quite a bit. Are you on my list?

Ahhh.. would add so many more stereothypes you didn't put... The SPAMMER, the "gracious", the 5-cents", the thread-Destroyer, the topic-addict, 'the-pervert'(only young girls as friends), the-know-it-all, the regulator, the under-900, the first-page-dailypuzzle maniac, the complainer, the veteran, the premium, the blocker, the mod, the uncaught cheater, the troll propaghandist, the loser, the professional, the stuff worshiper, the trolling enthusiast.

I love those guys!

There seems to be much talk of "sock puppets" on this site.  People seem hypertuned on that topic; what thatt is?

IMO the Spammer is just a subset of the Resident, and doesn't necessarily deserve its own group. But of course it's up to you.

Really? Do I do that?

Well, you can be a Spammer and not be a resident. I think that means it needs its own group.

@ Katie: I know some people on chess.com who would disagree.

I believe you mean: "I DO NOT YOU IDIOT" Kind of makes your case.

Should I throw grammar nazi on there? He also talks about differences between thread/forum/post

I'd acquiesce but, I was never able to prove or disprove if the account was one of many a resident uses, which is what I think Macer was saying in a round about way. Some things, you just know....

He lost me too. Glad to know it's not because I'm stupid. Nameno is a smart dude.

You stated straight forward that a spammer was someone who was here enough to qualify as a resident. My thoughts are that have either been here so long that you have to consider them a resident spammer or they are the accont of an emboldened resident who wants to have fun but, not with their primary account...either way a resident. I suppose it is possible that they are a sockpuppet theatre operator, working several theaters at once...

macer75

O, I just thought of a new one. What about the guy who creates a bunch of accounts and starts advertising about fake passports, livestream soccer games or escorts in Dubai?

IDK, seems like it doesn't really happen a lot...

I see your point. The way I interpreted it, a resident isn't defined as someone who joined chess.com a long time ago, but as someone who (1) spends a lot of time on chess.com, and (2) spends that time posting on the forums, and his comments are characterized by quantity rather than quality. And therefore by that definition pretty much all spammers are residents.

So for ex, the first person I thought of after reading the description for resident was GBC, and he was also the first person I thought of after reading the description for spammer (and I've thought of him as a spammer pretty much since I first noticed him).
