Computer Analysis - Trouble understanding the analysis

Ok, I will grudgingly admit that although this upgrade criticizes and scrutinizes my every move, I have found it to be one of my newest favorite things on chess.com

However, I am having trouble understanding what the numbers mean - the +1.14 or the -0.56.  My first impression was that from my perspective, the Plus is winning and the Minus is losing.  However, I have begun to suspect that Plus is for white and Minus is for black - Could somebody help clear this up for me?

Thanks!

+1.14 will mean that software prefer  it position little above one more pawn!

-0.56 mean down half pawn...

erik

+ means that white is better, - means that black is better.

the number is how much better (in terms of pawns).

so if it is +3.5, then white is winning by about 3.5 pawns which is significant.

also, M02 means "forced checkmate in 2 moves".

any other questions?

Whoa thanks Erik!  I guess +7 is pretty good, eh?

Unless you're black, in which case it's pretty bad.  Wink
