I think you may be the victim of one of the stupidest moves in chess... the stalemate. I can tell you if you were or not if you answer a couple questions. Could the pawn move? Could the king move without being in check? Was the king in check? If all the answers are no then you stalemated your opponent and the game is a tie. It makes absolutely no sense, but it's one of the rules... which I often fall to as well... Oh, and if that wasn't the reason did you and your opponent move the same pieces back and forth three times? A tie can be called if that happened. There is one other way for a tie to be called, but I doubt if it applies in your case. If you go 50 moves without a capture or a pawn move then either player can call a draw. Hope I was of some assistance.
computer is a lire

I think stalemate is a good thing.
Teaches us humility, if we are winning; teaches us cunning, if we are losing.
Or just frustrates us. lol I just question the logic of it. You have your opponent trapped, no matter where they go they are dead. So you tie. But I'm sure there's another place to debate the oddities of chess.

You or I may not like stalemates. But there is no "debate" about it. "It comes with the territory" (old expression)...if you wanna play chess.
I would agree with you that it is frustrating for you when you are "winning". But, keep in mind...it often takes a lot of skill for an opponent to strategize for a stalemate in a losing situation. Also, it reflects on the incompetence of the so called "winner" to lose to a stalemate.
I have seen chess players who are extremely competent on getting a stalemate out of a losing situation. I'm not that skilled...nor do I think are you...to do that so well. Nor have either you or I done a lot of practice in creating a stalemate. Players much better than you or me, I'm certain, will agree with what I just said.
For those of us lacking such skill...someday, I at least, am going to train better for creating stalemates in a losing situation. Right now, I have higher priorities in my chess training (re-training?)
