Certainly!
You sure think a lot for blitz, I play blitz mostly from instinct, and save my thoughts for slower games
Of course you can make it.

Balence study with play (Including slow games) and change how you play. Fix flaws, sharpen strengths and there is no real limit! (well sorta)
Care to play me some time in standard? I have to plan it out of course (School + noisy brothers) but I'd be happy to when the circumstances are right
Maybe at some point... generally I focus more on blitz when I'm online.
Ask CP6033 how difficult it is to get me to play "standard". The fact that he's leading in our match by 3.5 : 1.5 doesn't make it easier, of course!!

Well you guys are much higher rated than me. I am just class b!
There was a topic not too long ago that wondered if blitz ratings were on the rise for everyone.
In the past chess.com has caused ratings to rise or lower.
I don't play here though, so I don't know. Just some food for thought.
Yes, <Here by accident> - looks like it does. Good catch! (27. Rd1!)
The things we miss in blitz AND in post mortem...
Thanks, <Watershoot> :-)
Interesting, <01100011>...
But I don't think so - I was rated 8000th out of 2,000,000 blitz players - I don't remember ever being rated that high.
Very nice job solskytz!
You are living proof that a person can still learn and get stronger.
I can't remember how many forums I have read were people say you can't get any stronger past a certain "age".
Such coffee house nonsense.
Keep up the good work solskytz!
I have no doubt in my mind that you will exceed 2100+!
You should be even higher. Just move quick. A man with your experience and fide otb almost 2000 it should not be that hard. I know friends with 1800 fide and here are 2050+ blitz. One with 1970 fide is 2300 blitz.
Some people are exceptionally better in blitz, out of proportion to their OTB capabilities.
Some others, it's the opposite - there are FMs and NMs rated here in the 1800s and low 1900s blitz.
One of them lost to me once 3:0, and then told me that "I played like an 2600" - obvious, because I beat him three times to none, and he was a FIDE master...
Unfortunately, he took really too long to think and obviously didn't adapt well to online play and to the time control. I felt that I was playing a very strong player - but in the 3 0 context he was dead in the water.
"Just move quick" is a problem - because I do need the time that I take... if I played quicker I would blunder more... we all try to find that magic balance between losing on time and blundering positions...
Take this page for example, listing some of the higher-rated blitz players on this website. This is only page ten of the highest ratings - and people are already rated below 2400. Quite a number of them are GMs...

Could I?
I was convinced, down deep, that yesterday was just a fluke.
A few games into tonight's session convinced me that somehow and for some strange reason, as yet unknown to me, this is not really the case.
I maintained my rating.
At some point I even made another new record - 2085!
And then I lost some games...
Then it became 2090 !!!
And then I lost some more...
The last three games were a 2:1 loss against a strong and talented player. Of course I will show you here the game I won - the very first one. It was fun!
