These games used to ditch the players who rely only on learnt by heart stuff or cheating. Some fresh air they were.

there is a fairy stockfish that is trained on these variants. just by having a different variant doesnt mean you avoid cheaters

Bots can't play these variants well yet, and the theory is not developed to that extent. You still don’t end up playing against players who know the best moves by heart up to move 35–40. I hardly ever met a cheater there.

One very large issue with the variants server arenas is the fact that you play the same person over and over again. And unless you are evenly matched, someone is miserable and someone gets tons of wins.
Maybe there are some technical issues.
You cannot play King of the Hill and Crazy house even as personal games, not only tournaments. Lag, cuts... it is ridiculous.

Bughouse was never on the variants server, that's why they kept it in it's old format most likely.
Hi schizzarotto! I am facing the same issue mate. I used to play 3check and koth a lot, we have both played so many games with each other and I’m missing the variant tournaments a lot too! They have played a massive part in improving my chess elo as well. Absolutely gutted with the removal of these variants especially 3check
I used to also have a good 1700-1800 plus rating in 3check and koth, feeling sad that they removed the ratings from my profile. The only good part left are my legacy tournament medals
Yeah cuz 3check used to have a community of players who regularly played those tournaments

Yeah, I also used to play 3 check arenas in 2020-21! They were so nice.

I support large clubs, including three with over 10,000 members. I have a club with over 3,500 members. Variants are the best. I've spoken with many people and clubs. Crazyhouse Rooks 304 members Variants Club 580 members - King of the Hill Team - 1,809 members 3 Check 1,052 members 3 CHECK FUN 6,303 members Crazyhouse 4,597 members Variants are the best 3,507 members KOTH - King of the Hill 576 members And they're all surprised by the addition in tournaments.
