Basically what the title says. More specifically I have been playing 3 day games and I am wondering what is the etiquette on resigning. Since the discussion around resigning seems to generally have been about rapid games, I am wondering if perhaps resigning early, or before checkmate is bad etiquette considering the time people can put into the games.

If you are clearly losing and you have no hope of winning, resigning is polite saves both of you time. It really depends on if your opponent wants to checkmate or doesn’t care.
If you think you have a tiny hope of winning, you aren’t obligated to resign.

If someone is about to checkmate you, it really doesn't matter if you resign or not.
Nobody really cares about being able to play out a checkmate. A win is a win.
If you want to continue a lost game to play for a draw, just go on. It's your right to use your time.
