No worries, it isn't very intuitive in my opinion.
Go to Play and choose the +
Choose Create Challenge. Beside the Time heading, choose the time listed which will let you change to one of the Daily options.
While looking at stats on my android device I have a daily chess statistic that shows no activity? What games, lessons or whatever affect this Stat?
