Debate: What to call "Online Chess"...
Advanced chess. There are places on the web that encourage it. I tried it at one of them--too time consuming. Lots of hard-fought draws.
In my opinion, you don't even need to add "chess". Just call it Correspondance: the less the better.
Why stop there? Let's drop the "correspondence" too and just refer to it with a knowing nod.

Love it!
Slow Chess
Excellent. You posted it 6 minutes ago! -- 3 months after the last post in this forum! Point taken! ... Oh, sorry I responded 7 minutes later -- hope I didn't vitiate your admirable suggestion: "Slow Chess." I still like it.
Wait -- -- Now it says "Slow Chess" was posted Twelve Minutes Ago. Is Time Accelerating?!
That happens in correspondence chess. Time also slows down when your opponent is about to lose on time, although it may accelerate for her.

One good thing about Father Time: he makes the trains run on dictators.
Except Asynchronous implies that it's not turn based anymore. I still favour "Intermittent" as about the most precise, though it could be construed to mean that the service is unstable so perhaps not ideal from a marketability standpoint.
You're right, asynchronous is not turn based. Shucks, I liked the word!
