I've had players that are clearly loosing then they all of a sudden they loose internet connection.  After the loose of connection times out (3 min) I do not get credit for the WIN and I am assuming they do not get dinged with the lose.  These players are absolutely cheating and should be banned.

that just means u lost internet connection, not him, if u refresh sometime in the middle, his move would have been shown

I could understand that.  However, that is not what is happening.  I can clearly see that I have a solid connection and there connection turns red.  additionally, a message pops up saying that my opponent has lost connection and then a timer starts.  at the end of the timer the game is over with no declared winner.

Oh in that case chess.coms servers had their restart/mantance

Ok, I can understand that.  It is just that I'm really not that good.  played a lot in my teens but stopped about the time I turned 21.  I'm now 45 and getting back into it.  chess.com has me rated at ~900 ish.  I loose just about as many as I win.  Maybe it is just a coincidence but I have only seen this happen when I am winning.  IDK.

But the thing is, it's 100% not your opponent like hacking into your connection and disconnecting you.  It's your connection.

OK last time.   It is not my connection that goes down.  my connection is just fine.  The other player disconnects.  A Chess.com message appears stating that we are waiting for my opponents connection.  The issue is the person I'm playing disconnects to avoid a loss.

nklristic

The opponent can't avoid a loss by disconnecting.

If everything is fine with your connection, and the opponent disconnects for too long, they will lose the game.

However, you've said that there is no record that the game was ever played in the first place. If what you say is true, it seems that you were just unfortunate enough to play the game at the time when chess.com were doing server restart. Every game that happens at the time when server is restarted is automatically aborted and just vanishes so to speak.

Usually there is a message in the upper right corner (if I am not mistaken) that informs players how many minutes are remaining before server restart.

Thank you!!! From yours and other similar comments, I believe that is what is happening.  I will start paying closer attention to all the messages at the time.

Well, if you had read the earlier posts in this thread, you would know that isn't possible, because each player has their own connection to the server.
