So I just played a game with a player who has been not moving and letting clock run down in games for over 4 years. his comment page is littered with people saying the player has done this in their game. The player has just done the same thing to me. How come the player can get away with this bad sportsmanship for so long without chess.com doing anything about it?

fair enough and thanks for the insightful answer but my point is why when chess.com put this statement out

"****** disconnected or stopped moving during your game. Players who do this often will be restricted" after a game your opponent clearly stopped moving in. is nothing done about it the player has been doing the same thing for over 4 years don't know what definition chess.com have for "often" but it's clearly not the same as the OED.  oh and ps my game my time, why should I have to waste MY time whilst someone takes the **** by not moving?

Probably because it's not a big deal. You win the game anyway, so what does it matter?

it may not to players who only play 2 min blitz games! it's another matter to not move for 10 20 or30 mins and it is obviously an issue or chess.com would not put this statement out "****** disconnected or stopped moving during your game. Are you sometimes sat there for 30 minutes waiting for the game to time out then? If so, I can see why that would be frustrating. Perhaps there should be a means of reporting such players if that does happen.

well in my game the player knew he was in a losing/bad position and left me waiting for about 18 mins running his clock down while he went off and played COD on his PS4. 

It's normal. People give up. Just do something else that time. Check occasionally in case they have lifted their own spirits.

However, if your opponent's clock is less than 5 minutes, it's worth staring at the screen.

I am currently experiancing the same shit atm. This is the 2nd time. I wish there is some sorta report button. Its so fustrating

Open another window and start playing the next game, look at the other game a few times.

"Eventually they get caught"   Isn't the minute-to-minute operation of this site done by computer?  In the world of computers "forever" is somewhat less than ten minutes; so "eventually" should be somewhat less than one minute.  Even if you allow for human auditing of what the computer sees, a week or two should be plenty.

The main point of this thread wasn't to complain that a player had stopped moving for 18 mins letting their clock run down, but that the same player has been doing the very same thing to many players since joining chess.com over 4 years ago and nothing is done about it by chess.com. The placation they use "****** disconnected or stopped moving during your game. Players who do this often will be restricted" is clearly meaningless.
