Do you play chess in real life or just on internet ?
I play more chess in person with a friend but I do a lot of online chess problems and play one of the chess bots sometimes. Really I am just teaching my friend the basic game, I don't even really know openings.
Yes, i play chess in real life on the internet.
Havent played any chess in decades.
P.s.: That means for the moment I only play online ... dont see how that will change either.
I play at a 'club' near me. I say 'club' because there's only 4 regular members, and it's just us 4 who turn and drink while playing chess, but before covid and people falling out with the guy who founded the club (apparently, even though he also founded another club nearby which is still going strong) they had a lot of members apparently.
I used to have a weekly match with a buddy. Sadly, due to changes in work and such, we aren't able to do that anymore. Was a lot of fun as we would each try and surprise the other occasionally with some off beat opening or defence. I much prefer playing on a real board, and really just play the bots online.
I played in OTB tournaments, with chess hustlers and within the neighborhood. Outside the barbers shop we played chess and checkers.
If I get a chance, I play over the board. I usually win over the board, only one opponent there is even remotely formidable. If I joined a chess club (which I might do) I might face more formidable opposition. Online it is often a struggle for me to win, although it has had the effect of making me play better when I have a face-to-face opponent, as I average at least one online game a day and my over the board opponents are not so committed as that.
