Some mod will probs respond saying that they take every report seriously but in reality they don't ban people for sexism.
In real life chess clubs they take reports seriously but I'm not sure if that would be the case in America :<

I am in game with a user who is using threats of violence and also sexist remarks berating me. I think he should be kicked from the platform. How can I make a report that actually matters?
https://support.chess.com/en/articles/8562517-how-do-i-report-someone
You can use that or use the Support option in the menu to open a ticket.
Last month there were over 192,000 abuse closures in addition to accounts getting muted for less severe violations of the site TOS
the reports do nothing on a large scale, pretty sure somebody starts investigating something when some kind of "threshold" number of reports have been submitted, otherwise the report button is there to calm down the person pressing it, not much else it does not
reports only work when hikaru is doing it because he has a large fan base and chesscom does not want to make them angry
That is not accurate. Regular reports also result in staff action when appropriate.
Click on your opponent's name and press report then fill in the form. I did that yesterday and today the player I reported was banned and I got my lost rating points back. Still down as a loss on my record but at least they got banned because they were so obviously not playing legitimately.
i've only had 1 abuse report lead to a ban. but most of my cheating reports lead to bans. i think they only care about the cheating reports xD
Interesting topic. I have found a player who used sexists (disgusting language) against me was banned, but one thing I reported was not acted upon: A player playing five minute lost two pawns with four minutes still on his clock, he stopped playing and when I tried to ask him if he was okay? I Got the message this player has blocked me... during the game! I had never spoken to him, first ever game but had to sit and wait for his clock to wind down. I checked his other games and saw the pattern - he does the same to everyone he is losing to, stops playing, lets his clock wind down and blocks his opponent. This is not correct. You should not be allowed to do this again and again and again. I personally do not think you should be able to block anyone who you have not had an interaction with - such as a chat, or repeated challenges or messages and IF YOU LET YOUR CLOCK RUN DOWN IN A LOST POSITION - that person - not just the account - that person should be banned for six months.
Some people do not seem to realise that if you are rated X you only score 50% against others who are rated X.
Your opponents can't ban you. Plenty of people tell me that they're reporting me and nothing ever happens xD

Block... not ban
No or select "other" and mention cheating. I'm definitely leaving chess dot com, I'm around 1200 "elo" in blitz, after a few hundreds game I managed to go beyond 600. The level of cheating is endemic and crazy.
