Don't dream becoming a GM

@hollywoodb1 I think OP is mainly referencing the little kids (around 10 ig?) who like to aspire to be a GM. Obviously someone who is, lets say, 2200, before 18 saying they want to be a GM carries different weight than a 10-year-old rated 700. A lot of them do tend to talk about how they want to become GM, while staying U1000. I was one of those kids, so I’d know.
Still I tend to agree with you more, there isn’t really a reason to proclaim “you should stop dreaming NOW!” After all, most kids will have their dreams crushed by reality anyways (chesswise, I mean). The only thing you’re saving by telling them earlier is a bit of time. And if they truly meant they wanted to be a GM, an internet post isn’t going to be what stopped them.

Look at you, you are only saying this because you are hopeless and want to ruin other's dreams.
Referring to the OP.
Funny how if you can't disprove someone, it immediately turns into a comment on their rating.

OP is right. Man cannot put in what God left out. You might be the biggest fan of a sport in the world, but unless God has seen fit to give you the talent, you will never be a pro, let alone a superstar. Focus on reality , not pipe dreams.
quit your bs

Eh.. With enough hard work, almost anyone can become great at something.
It would really depend on what you mean by "great". But I'm of the opinion that everyone who's great at something worked hard to get there. Most people at master level won't tell you "Yeah I just played chess and read books and ended up winning most of my tournament games."
And yet, you'll see many intermediate players also work really hard to improve, yet there's always people that go faster than them. At some point it's not about working hard. Everyone who wants to be good at something works hard.

I feel honored when i see
- downvotes
- ur 1300 m8 u dnt kno bro
- don't destroy people's dreams
- ...
since i explained myself but haven't seen any significant argument in return. I mostly love the downvotes given from the shadows by the people who have nothing to say about anything.
I know it's hard to admit when someone said "you can't" it simply triggers your defence mechanism. But in time you will come around and will have to accept the truth, when there is nothing else left to do.
What do you know?

If you want to become a GM, buy my course on how to get better in chess. Link in my profile. I think it's doable with the right approach.
Also read books on chess.

If its so 'doable', why arent YOU a GM?
I don't have time to play chess in competitions. And I won games against tens of GMs online.

you know what else is extremely 'doable?' yo mama.
Dude, I recently won against a GM in 10 moves. So - why would I conclude it's unreal?

Correct, I beat a GM in 10 moves with black pieces on Lichess. Note I didn't say I beat him on chess.com.
On this site I won games against tens of FIDE GMs.

Sure, I played with black pieces :-) White was titled played (GM), on lichess:
1 Nf3 Nf6 2 c4 d5 3 cxd5 c6!? - I play lines similar to this gambit quite often 4 dxc6 Nxc6 5 d4 e5!? - the point of sacrificing a pawn is to.. sacrifice another pawn 6 d5? (after de5 Qd1 Kd1 Ng4 black has some initiative for the pawn) Qxd5
7 Qxd5 Nxd5 8 a3? e4 9 Ng5 Nd4!? 10 Kd2 Nb3+ 0-1
The opening and the gambit I played isn't really solid.

I personally trust you but the other guy won't without the link.
that is absolutely true. so let me ask valentino this... if your guide book is really anything of value, why dont you publish it instead of trying to sell it one copy at a time in chess.com forums like a snake oil salesman?
It's not a snake oil salesman. It is a course. Just a course that I think is good for the players.
Of course I might be trying publishing it with some publisher. And there are some videos in it, it is not only PDF-books. So it would be not only a printed book.
hi.
