i have been playing chess for 60 years and this is the most dysfunctional arena i have ever seen........

and then i was going to reply, but apparently one of our kind moderators deleted the original post. anyway, i thought my reply was funny, so i'm posting it anyway :D

woah - we're in an arena?

personally, THIS is the most dysfunctional arena i've ever seen:

i mean, a toy that teaches kids about throwing people into a pit to be eaten by lions? now THAT is dysfunctional.

LOL.. erik..

I thought the owner of the site was supposed to be the strict guy.. and the moderators would be more slack.

How much do they get paid? Sealed

That seems like something I would give to my kids. It's probably a good thing that I don't have any.

My thoughts exactly.

erik, doesn't it seem odd to you that a guy can't comment that chess.com is dysfunctional without kohai or some other mod coming and and deleting the post?  how very Pravda of chess.com.  how does this sit well?  obvioulsy your mod aren't on the same page with you.  you're willing to post what he said again, but your mods thought it better to purge us of it...

that's pretty stupid if you ask me.

The poor guy was probably just frustrated with the site because he was using the wrong browser.  Been there.  Easier to ask for help.

You mean Arena?  I'm not surprised it's dysfunctional.

If the member is a 1 member pt jerkoff just trying to instigate others...I see it as a perfectly legitimate deletion.

LAGER

Yes C.c is the Japanese model of chess sites. Copy cat of forerunners and in several areas a really bad knockoff. The PC here is a glass ceiling of narrow minded scardy cat-ness. Next will be forums will be hid because anyone with a brain will be deleted and oh my word we wouldn't want opinions being observed ;-( Lets see clubs, internet tool bar, severe restriction on forums topics and discussion, sounds like a clone to me!

TAURASI was probably pissed he was disconnected in the two live chess games he played. Laughing

Can we all admit that there is a fine balance that has to be struck between open honest freedom of speech and subversive grumblings that clutter the forums from negative types with no real investment or effort made...?  A mood is struck here based on what is allowed to go on...  I once had my posts deleted because I had included the words "emotional succubus"...so I understand the irritation with overcensoring.

I don't think people should be allowed to create threads until they have a certain amount of games played or a certain time has elapsed. Undecided That would especially help with the imbeciles who make new accounts every day just to create nonsense threads.

Sounds like "Yeah, who?" Wink Talk about Dysfunctional Arenas Surprised and it ain't even made outta Legos! Tongue out

LAGER

99.9% of the forums here are nonsense especially several of the replies here. The intelligence and lucid english on this site is appalling. TG there is  undilluted Scouser blood still available!

Although, if we only allowed those newer folk to post in each others topic threads and only reply to each other - you all know who they are - now THAT would be a Dysfunctional Arena I'd (continue) to pay for the fun to lurk at.

Viva dys Functional!

Kernicterus

I tried to click on "those newer folk" because I thought it might be a link to some funny episode.

val08

@AfafBouardi - I, see. That is pretty bad.

@LAGER - Your english is pretty bad as well. Do you know what "lucid" means? You just contradicted yourself. And your third sentence lost me again.

Afaf, on some level i get what you're saying but you're missing 2 important points--one i made and one i didn't.

1. Erik thought the comment was worth quoting and worth discussing therefore not worthy of being deleted.  That seems to trump all your personal ideas about what should and should not be allowed at this site.

2. You start some pretty stupid threads yourself.  Remember the what rating will you play thread?  I do.  Or how about your Resigning games after losing one pawn.  Competitiveness or Bad Attitude thread?  let's not stop there, your Why play slower when losing? thread, was sorely unhelpful as well.

all of this is my opinion.  others might find these and other stupid threads helpful, but all do not.  my point is, your opinion isn't better than the dude's who thinks chess.com is a dysfunctional arena.  i tend to agree with him on some level although my opinion is not as damning...  anyway.  and if course you're right--dude is new, he obviously should give the site a bit of time before passing judgement but really--why do you care?

There could be punitive measures if I identified them by (screen) name. But I know at least YOU know who they are because I've seen you mark them with the TROLL-tag in their OP'd topics

(Rael: 'scuse the abuse of troll use)
