Hey erik - to prevent abuse, wouldn't it be prudent to include a clause re: that the person actually stays/plays for a few months? I mean.. I can just hear the accounts getting whipped up fradulently for that free month. Yikes.

Yes, good point -- I totally agree!
people can't just get a bunch of fake profiles - they have to become PREMIUM members for you to get the credit.
also, we retroactively gave membership credit to anyone who had referred a currently paying member!
Did you ever consider a membership bonus structure where active members purchase memberships for others. Surely this would be considered as not only generous but supporting chess.com individually, ensuring that active members stayed on thus enhancing their chances of gaining referrels??

If you refer someone to Chess.com (either either invite friends with this email tool, or Spread the Word with these blog/widget tools, or when they signup they add your name as the referrer) then you will get 30 days of free Chess.com Premium Membership! If you are already a member, it will extend your membership for free for 30 days. If you are not a paid member, you will get 30 days of Silver membership.
