i agree with that in fact it will make it more tempting for him to read ......

Telling Erik not to read this won't help.  :)
If this were a site for one chess club, or even a league of chess clubs, I would say that's a great idea, but it's a site for chess players who are spread out throughout the world.  It's kind of hard to have a party via Internet.  :)

Chess.com started on May 18th, 2007.

guys i have no idea, but i do know that it started after itsyourturn.com stopped and telling Erik (whoever he is) not to read this is stupid since he probably will now. how do u wanna hav a party?

You do know it's February right now? Kinda early to start planning a party in May...

I think it's fantastic to be a part of this startup.  I would first suggest that we post some offerings of what to do for a party/event.  Just off the top of my head, we could suggest a time for all members to do something, i.e. most members on-line, everyone send a note to erik saying thanks (and wait for the server to crash) , or start a thanks staff members thread Happy Birthday!  We could even get with a staff member other than Erik to create a Happy Birthday banner for the web site.  Great idea for a party, let's help by brainstorming some ideas.

These are good ideas.  Other forums that I've been on would start a thread calling it the Birthday thread, or 1 year since start up and everyone would put in their comments to erik and the staff, usually with really cool smilies.  I think that we on chess.com are way too literal minded.

Chess is Eric,  Eric is chess...

...all hail Eric !

Hail Eric,

I think the party idea is great, someone find out the correct date, and as someone said, we could all be on line at the same time, wearing party hats, and celebratory outfits, or even better we could purchase a chess.com t-shirt and all wear them to the party. Just imagine the amount of beer, and soda pop, we could all let off our party poppers at the same time, get drunk, snog each other, online of course, Yes I'm up for that.CoolLaughing

I'm up for it, but I will need someone to send me a ticket, otherwise we should be able to do a web-cam party
