Yes. The phrase has two meanings. I think it was punch, not kool aid, but it's basically the same thing. The phrase is sometimes used sarcastically. It's when there is something very wrong, but people go along with it anyway and dont protest. Thats "drinking the koolaid" or "pleased as punch" more sarcastically.

Actually "pleased as punch"  was coined in the 1800s in reference to the Punch and Judy puppet shows:
