Your concerns about what you just wrote seem outstandingly true to a certain degree, but however using bad words such as the (P***) (H***) words are not acceptable!

Unfortunately I must report you, so chess.com can take the right action's.

Spidey sense tingling...

hello

AlCzervik

i just received this: "Your comment was not posted because you have already posted 5 consecutive messages. Please review our Community Policies." in red banner format. it was in a topic that had 88 new posts.

now the site is going back to this?

i read the email about the new tos just yesterday, and nowhere did it say we are unable to post six consecutive times. this is another fail and an indication of less staff monitoring and more automation.

It's been 5 for a while now, scaled back from 3.

AlCzervik

are you sure? there is a member here with topics about this very subject, and i thought the restrictions had been lifted.

either way, it is bs that we are told how many times we can post. a bot that declares spam based on consecutive posts and threatens restrictions doesn't know what spam is.

if monitoring this site is left to the bots, no one will ever know what is allowed or not.

case in point-i was recently muted for writing h o m o sapiens in a PRIVATE message to another adult. this happened to another member about a year ago. he posted publicly about it, but not a damn thing was done to fix the automation. note that i had to include spaces so i wouldn't receive the wrath of the cc bot.

and, when did private messages become subject to the treatment where messages are zapped?

Here's a 3-minute video introducing the issue of this thread.

FYI -- Zuboff taught at  Harvard Business School.  And, if you really want to lose sleep, start reading her 500 page book, published in 2018.  The last sentence of her video sums it all up.

Most of us took the blue pill, instead of the red pill, long ago.  Great thread, Albert.

Thx, learned something today.

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's still 5.  I remember trying to put my 2 cents in about the 3 or 5 in a row "decaying" such that if you were updating a thread weekly or something the site wouldn't stop you after 5 weeks, it would reset after some amount of days.

There's significant abuse done through messages, so it makes sense for the auto-mod to catch the most obvious of it.

AlCzervik

martin, i get that, but there are other tools. the recipient of said abuse could simply block the abuser and then message staff, maybe with a copy of the abusive message.

yep, this is to the owner. so that he might get an idea of how some things here piss us off.

there have been numerous topics in the past few months about autobots, new "features", and we receive many responses, but never an explanation from a staff member that explains anything. complaints are many, yet you rely on other regular members to explain the workings of the site. the laughable part is that, as you continue to adjust, those regular members aren't aware of new implementations. based on the limited staff responses, it appears they don't know what the hell is going on and sometimes are lackeys for whatever you do.

i have created a few topics about the failures i have seen. they are populated with many others that have concerns. when a response from staff is "it was done for improvements", or, "we are working on it", there is never any follow up.

why is that?

i have sent three tickets dating back 13 days. no response to any.

how is it that concerns are ignored? erik, i'm sure this post could piss you off, but, really, how is it that concerns are ignored?

there are members shut out of live chess because of some stupid bot.

there has been no explanation for the board size shrinking.

there is a red banner that tells us we cannot post three times consecutively. many topics on this, but nothing from staff.

where is the customer service?

hi frustrated I am elevator

The site has apparently decided not seeing the abuse is better

I just read your post and have reported this issue via moderation channels.

except, the latest mute of me was no abuse at all. i was pm'ing another adult (i realize there are few here) that i've known for years.

we were, in fact, discussing how to work around the bot.

(by the way, how sad is that?)

in the pm i mentioned that a member was muted for writing h  om o sapien. no abuse whatsoever.

thanks!

now, don't be a stranger! let us know how it progresses.

and now all email tickets are insanely behind.... 10+ days for a response now

AlCzervik

i have recently been told that mods are directed to tell members to go to open discussion when certain topics arise. it seems to be in the handbook.

i've been here for many years and have seen this many times.

except, the new and improved tos explicitly state that there can be no advertising! even for clubs!

yes, i'm being dramatic to make a point.

back in 2010 it was relatively normal for staff/mods to push any religious or political talk to od. that was fair.

then, staff explicitly stated it was leaving od and allowing moderation of the group to the appointed admins-regular members like you and i.

and now cc has many discussion groups. so, staff, mods, please do not direct those that write about adult conversations to od. it is not only against your own rules, but it is also od.

AlCzervik

back to the bots-

a member wrote the f-bomb in a very popular topic (over 10,000 posts). i quoted it to show, once again, how bad the bots are. well, upon quoting i was instantly muted. no red banner warnings, just muted.

the post with the f-bomb is STILL there.

this is similar to getting muted for writing h  o m o sapiens (with no spaces). whoever is in charge of managing what the bots are programmed to do should be fired.

llama47

Yeah, quoting profanity is the hidden killer.

And for non-vets, you don't even know what's going on, so you usually try to post a few more times, which are counted as separate offences by the bot.

AlCzervik

i went to an active topic in one of the groups i am in that was supposed to have three new posts. clicking on it brought me to posts from almost two months ago. whatever was 'new' was not there, as well as the posts i had made.

how is the ui so poor that this keeps happening?

blackfirestorm

And then on top of that the captcha plaguing every message we try and send is really doing my head in.
