Etiquette and social behaviour

As much as I love chess.com I think the social standards are really poor.

I think it is great playing people from many different countries but simply don't understand that people "run off" after the game without exchanging a single word ...

How difficult can it be to write "tfp" (thanks for playing), "bye" or anything that gives the idea you actually played with another human being and not a chess computer.

The site is, as I mentioned, so great that we have a chance to connect to people from all around the world and from places we probably never would/could visit ourselves.

All good points that you make sir.  However we are talking blitz here (judging by your game record) and by its' very nature blitz is a somewhat frenetic activity.  I think folks are just running off to find another game or are returning to "life" after a little chess.  If you are looking for a more social experience may I suggest correspondence (what Erik insists on calling "online")?  Folks seem much more amenable to chat and you have a better chance to get to know them.  I know 3 days to make a move seems a bit much but most folks don't take anywhere near that long.

Thanks for your reply :) I can see your point regarding the nature of blitz here. However I do feel like it's a missed chance to quickly in sometimes short abbrevations exchange more than "E2-E4". Maybe I am a romantic but playing chess is, more than tactics and for some even mathematics, a scene for meeting another person through this ingenious game. I mean look what is happening to society nowadays, so much more stress, anxiety and burn outs ...and so much less contact or interest in "the other". Life has become an individual afair, promoting ego and self-interest. Truly a shame in my opinion.
