Feature Requests and Wishlist Thoughts #2

There was another post on the psychology of the pieces which reminded me of a suggestion I wanted to give: is there any way to show a little "preview" of the pieces (or maybe just one piece) when you are selecting from the different styles of chess pieces? It would be great to see what they look like first instead of choosing, saving, going into one of your games, and THEN seeing what they look like. Or, even easier, have a graphic with all the pieces lined up of each type, so you can see what the choices are before you even click the drop down.
EDIT: someone else said this works instantly with live chess, where you can see your pieces change shape right away, and then making your choice on your turn-based board. The only reason I didn't delete my post here is so that others could see the resolution suggested. Hope this helps.

#1) How about a sticky thread which has an up-to-date version of your (eric's) to-do list.
That way, everyone can see which features are coming, and when.
#2) How about a message in the inbox everytime a new feature is implemented?

Seconded. A couple of my best games have been in there -- I'd have loved to have saved them.

Let me save Eric the trouble, I have said this in the previous pages and he said when live chess becomes more stable this is a feature that will be added.

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere - is there any way to see if you've entered conditional moves in a game other than actually opening up the conditional moves window? Some indicator on the actual game page?

Don't know if this has been suggested...
The ability to add searchable "key interests" so i for instance can find other members who have stated they have similar interest or other things in common...
What do you think?

How about a button on forum messages that can flag it and bring it to the attention of the staff. I just came from one thread that is starting to drop into name calling by some participants.
[ERIK says: we have that! it's called the "Report Abuse" link at the bottom of any page]

Another feature I think would be kind of cool is some stats that give an idea when players tend to make their moves. Something like a move distribution by day of week, plus one distribution by hour of day for weekdays and another hourly distrubution for weekends.

(1) Most forums allow signatures that appear at the end of every post.
(2) Also on the tournaments page, there should be a fourth tab that lists tournaments we are eligable for.

Yes, most do, but I'm glad this one doesn't. I personally don't see any need for them, our SN is at the top of everyone of our posts, and if we want to know more about the poster, their profiles are only a click away.

And then we could have universal conditional moves that works for all games. (normally the conditional moves work only for a specific game).
Maybe putting in a Submit as conditional move in addition to the submit move button. That way, we wouldn't have to do the same thing over and over again for different games.

I am playing live chess and I see very different ways of attack . I would like it when people who want to discuss the game afterwards or who wants to explain things get a special mark. That when someone plays another person with that mark that he can ask things(after the game) and when a person dont have the mark they dont want to discuss things.
(remark this topic is also posted on an other place in the forum but I did not want to lose the reactions that were given overthere )

How about the option of having graphical signatures at the bottom of our posts? Just a minor idea, but people can be wonderfully creative with them and I would love to see what chess themes they could come up with.
[ERIK says: i'll be honest - i'm not a fan of this. we provide people with homepage that they can customize and do lots of stuff with. but i'm hesitant to allow people to possibly clutter up the forums. on some message boards it is so hard just to read what is going on because of all of the graphics, etc]
