Invite some Grandmasters to do a blog or some sort of page!! Anyone would be nice and it would be decent publicity!

How about a spot on the homepage where you show the list of upcoming improvements and features?

We have our local GM with a blog, and he's named....... BILLWALL!! You can even play against him!

No, the real GM is Yelana Dembo.  She is the the 17th highest rated female on the planet! (the 17th highest rated male is Magnus Carlsen).   Her rating is 2470 and going up.  She will not lose a game here.  Also here is Jordy Mont-Reynaud, a strong master who was, at one time, the youngest chess master in the United States, at age 10.  He is now 23 and his birthday is in a few weeks, August 23.  He should not lose a game.  He should be blogging soon.  You have a few more real masters here that will be catching up soon.  There may be a GM or two that will stop by, but most are very busy and have their own blogs.

Oh I had heard Yelena was very good, but somehow I thought she was a master. We should ask these people but maybe we could put some kind of roster list? Just some link to their blog, mainly, but also for those interested playing against them? It could make some nice publicity, both to the website and to the player's blog. And perhaps links also to their personal pages and such?

Another feature request: In the forums there are threads with more than one page. There is no way to go directly to the last page to read the new replies. It would be nice to have links for each thread page directly on the main forum page. For instance we could find inside "chess.com Community" a list of threads and this thread would appear as "Feature Requests and Wishlist Thoughts!!? 1 2", because at the time of this reply there are two pages for this thread.

good idea! have you ever tried clicking on the little bubble icon? that takes you to the last post of the thread. do people ever click on the middle pages? if it lists 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 as pages of posts, would someone really click on 5? why not just list the start of the thread and the end, as we do now?

The ability for people to save a link of articles/blog posts/games etc that they like. Similar to "favorites" or "bookmarks" - that way they don't have to come to the author's page and look for the post each time they want to read/review the item. They can just click on their favorites/bookmarks link etc.

For blogging, the ability to label or categorize a post.

Instant messaging with the ability to turn it off if you don't want to get any IMs or limit the number of IMs you can get at any one time. Sometimes you just want to holler without sending a "mail message" and waiting for a response.

bookmarks: great idea! i'm not sure that is a top priority just because there are other bookmarking tools out there, but i do like the idea.

blogging: you want tags? i guess we could do tags. categories probably won't work though.

IM/chat: it's already in the works!

I agree with Etienne's idea of making note of titled players on the site. Maybe a (FM), (WFM), (IM), (WIM), (GM), (WGM) titles after the account names to indicate they are a titled player once it is verified like other chess sites do.

This site needs a chatroom!

Also, applying title attributes to those icons would help people to understand their functions

Hehe, I already tried that before posting my suggestion, but clicking on the left bubble!Tongue out Now I see that the right bubble to click on is the right one. Thanks for the hint. Embarassed

Maybe to be able to play the computer with a determined opening, or start a game at a certain position (after the opening sequence chosen) to practice some openings? Because I've been trying to practice king gambit, but he just won't answer e5 to e4 haha.

How about include an rating position column in the "Players - Online Chess" table?
Avatar of erik
what do you mean rating position? you mean RANK? like what # they are?

Some tips, a little too technical though...

It looks like alerts are deleted after they are selected, not before. That  get's you to situations in which you are reading a post or a reply after clicking on an alert but the alert is still there and it's kinda confusing. Make the DELETE/UPDATE statements before the SELECT statement

Include this line:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 2.0" href="http://yourRSSfeed/" />
inside the <head> tag so that RSS readers can automatically detect chess.com pages that have
RSS feeds associated with it.
