Filtering Leads to Censorship.
Very well spoken in my oppinion. (I'm one of those real life friends who he as know for years). Truth of the matter be that we don't talk to each other for more then 2 minutes before we start spewing smart-ellec jokes at one another. Filters would only kill my enjoyment... Then again him kicking my tail at chess save the only 2 games I can remember kills it as well. (Once I beat him cus he was on meds, the other time it was because he was half-asleep, doesn't count I know).
Anyway, It should be a conciderable thought to those of us who do expect and expell a little trash talk when we play those certain friends whom expect and enjoy the comradery
Perhaps a compremise could be unfiltered talk between those on your friends list or a universal on/off feature given appropriate age of corse.
Just my two cents.
I think the mods on here probably have better things to do then running down accounts of every four letter word spewing coward safely tucked away in their mamma's basement. It should be up to each individuals discretion. Just disable chat, kick their butt, then block them. Problem solved!
If all this is going to lead to filtering, what about games between friends where sometimes junk is talked. If I'm playing somebody I just met, or doesn't know my sense of humor, I will be on my best behaviour, but with friends Ive known on line for awhile, as well as friends I play on here that Ive known in real life for years, we may start talking a little junk to each other as the game progresses. If filters are put in place, due to a few bad apples, it will mean a form of censoring for everyone else. If that becomes the case, then the bad apples have won.
