Pa oh, siroti tebi žuga vihar grozán, vihar strašán; prihrumel z gorkega bo juga, divjal čez plodno bo ravan, ki tvoja jo napaja struga — gorjé, da daleč ni ta dan!
Nad tabo jasen bo obok, krog tebe pa svinčena toča in dež krvav in solz potok in blisk in grom — oh, bitva vroča!
Tod sekla bridka bodo jekla, in ti mi boš krvava tekla: kri naša te pojila bo, sovražna te kalila bo!

Simon Gregorčič! We had to tell this poetry by heart in Primary School. :)

I think he is talking about WW1 although he wrote it well before the war. Simon lived just about 50km away from where am I right now. :)

Benzodiazepine

Yep, correct and it's about River Soča "ti mi boš krvava tekla" that he loved so much! Smile

He was born in Kobarid. I've been to his birth house. Where do you live? 'Cause I've lived near Most na Soči which is about 30 Km from Kobarid. Tongue Out

But I guess he didn't live in Kobarid. Branik/Vipava? So you live near Nova Gorica or Postojna?! :P

The confusion is annoying, see girls can say, "I had a guy-freind tell me that" But guys say, "I had freind-who-is-a-girl tell me that."

Both can also say "I had a friend tell me that".

And I will spare you the grammatical gendering debate in French...

Well duh but I'm talking about the cases where the gender is necessary.

Benz, you lived... You know Slovene? You're Slovene? Or... :)

Cerkno actually. You know that ski resort Ski Center Cerkno?

Maybe it's less than 50km.

Benzodiazepine

Yes, I am! :D

Sure I've heard about Cerkno, I know it's between Most na Soči and Idrija, but I don't think I've ever been there. Maybe just once but not to the Ski Center.

On Most na Soči there's a joke that goes:

How long do you think you need if you walk to Ljubljana 2 steps forward and 1 step backward?

Answer is that you never get to Ljubljana because they'll stop you in Idrija. Laughing

MSC157

Jebelapipa! ;)

Hahaha, good one! That's why you should go to LJ over Kladje. :D

Warum hast du die deutsche Flagge dann? :)

Benzodiazepine

Hehe. :D

Sorry, had to go to the supermarket before it closed at 8 PM.

I'm in germany now :| and I think chess.com puts the flag automatically.

The more willing a person is to flirt on chess.com the less actractive they must be offline.

True? False? Exepctions?

Well.....I  dont think it has to do with "looks".....I believe ppl feel more comfortable "flirting"  on-line than in person....why?  I don have the answer....

But if someone was really wanting a relationship, why wouldn't they just do one in real life?! (Because they cant?!?!) But on here, it comes easier.

Annabella1

mmm ....  I guess you are right....but at the same time ppl find it easier to communicate behind a computer monitor....which is kind of freaky....I've been married 19 years and dating now these days is VERY  different....

In my opinion, I don't think that flirting means very much.  A lot of people flirt without meaning anything.  In addition, some people are just naturally more flirtatious and some people are not.  Those that are flirtatious would flirt all the time with just about anybody, and those that are not flirtatious may have genuine feelings toward people but they don't flirt because it's not in their nature to flirt.

In sum, you cannot gauge much by flirting alone.  When someone flirts with me, I just surmise that the person is not put off by me.   I do not assume more.

This is what I think, and I am sure nobody cares what I think, but what the hell anyway, the Internet is a place for lonely souls to make an ass out of themselves.

Well listen then, and throw out the phony crap when flies it in your face.

Oh, yes? Take a look on Basque language then!

We have many Basque communities in California, who came here in the 1800s. Euskara is a unique language.

Also, I love listening to the sound and inflection of the Catalan language.  I remember hearing it quite a bit during the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games

This is my former teacher in Primary School. Ironically, he teached Slovene. Wink

Benzodiazepine

Haha, that's funny. :)

Cajt je, cajt je da Cerkno rata glavno mista Slovenije.
Cajt je, da se Idrija priključ Cerknu.
Cajt je, da naredimo nakupovalno središče, pa letališče - vse skup, anu na drujm!
