Game Explorer Still Not Working

That is not the purpose of the tool... if you are simply looking for frequency of moves, I'd highly recomment chesstempo.com. Not only does it have a database of millions of master games, but it has the best tactics trainer out there by far.

we should have it live this with live games included!

I guess if you don't put a date, nobody can call you a liar.

Thank you, EricFleet,

I know that site and prefer viewing master games with 365chess.com, but my idea is different: viewing MY OWN ~4000 games here to see which choices should best be avoided and where I typically fail.

Game Explorer seems perfect for this, but as long as it is now completely broken  i.e. even Online games are not added since April,  I feel rather disappointed.

This topic can be renamed now intosomething like:

CHESS EXPLORER NOW WORKS EVEN LESS THAN EVER

365chess is also good for master games.

My recommendation for your own games is one I gave earlier... SCID vs PC. It has the ability to get a tree view of your own games and I load each and every one of my games into it after I play for a quick review. I then go to Chess Position Trainer to see if I stay in my opening book or if I make an error. I've set up a few Windows shortcuts to make the process pretty quick. Generally I spend five minutes after each game... sometimes more if I see I have really screwed up my opening theory.

I will also say that between CTP, SCID and chesstempo.com games and trainer I've jumped 350 points in the past 18 months in USCF. They are great tools that help me to focus on study and pretty much get out of my way and study efficiently.

folks,

I have the impression that a lot of analyzed games, normally visible through a link on the page of a finished game have disappeared. that's more of a strong hunch as the ones that are still there appear in an unsystematic pattern and I haven't let all my games analyze. But particularly my old ones of 2012 where, as i remember, almost all analyzed. But the analyzed games are mostly missing now.

before we make a new fuss about it, could some of you people check this with your own games archive (not the ramshackle database-:)). thanks.

Nah, it's just that the analysis goes away after a while (perhaps after a month or so, can't remember). The games are still there, though. And you can resubmit them if you want.

huu, i didn't know that. thanks.

Would be nice to atleast have a button to download PGN of ALL in my archive, games Instad of having to click through 30 pages. Aditionally I would like to able to do this for my opponents as well.

Should I continue to pay full price for less than full service?  Should I?

I really hope this is fixed soon, because I'd love to be able to see my own opening statistics, so I can figure out what I should play in USCF tournaments.

I mean, I have an account on another site that offers this service, and it is quickly becoming a deciding factor in whether I continue to pay for this site or the other.

@Milliern

Do see some game statistics for yourself ?

http://www.chess.com/explorer/?player=Milliern

Don't know if includes all your games however.

That "improvement" was to clutter up database with flippant "live-games" that did not belong there.

Am also a member for long-time who loves the site but disgusted that this important feature got broken.

Thanks, but why in the world does the database have so few of my games?  Is it saving statistics properly now, or am I only going to have statistics from a hundred or two games, when I've played thousands?

Here's the current status:

Daily Chess games (aka echess, correspondence) are now being imported 100%. And the past archive of games that were not imported in the past should start populating and be done within 1-2 months (it's a LOT of games and taxing on the database).

Last week we began importing Live Chess games, but the current database structure cannot handle it. We have tried everything, but with about 1 million games per day ending, and the calculations that have to happen when they get imported, our current hardware cannot handle it. So now we are in the process of purchasing a machine that can handle faster IOPS (specifically faster writes with 8TB of storage), and fine-tuning the scripts that import. It's an unbelievably frustrating situation and I can only apologize and let you know that we are working on it as best we can.

I'm going to look into a few other options to see if there is something specific we can do to help get it working for the users who MOST want to use it (like you guys in this thread!). I'm so sorry!!

Whoa, Erik posted here! That's awesome!

Do a fundraiser and ask for donations from the members! I would be willing to donate for that function!

Can anyone confirm what Eric has written? I.e. find his recently finished online game in the Game Explorer?

SocialPanda

Marignon: That has not been done yet. It's just being started.
